Arsenal drop two big points at 10-man Wigan

Wigan 2 – Arsenal 2 (Premier League, December 29, 2010) (MOTD highlights.) Ben Watson fired Wigan in front against Arsenal with a confident 17th minute penalty after Koscielny took down N’Zogbia (or was it a dive?) in the box. The Gunners levelled up a lovely match in the 38th minute as Arsenal worked a stolen throw-in down the right until Bendtner shot on target, Al Habsi saved but Andrei Arshavin was on hand to acrobatically whack in the rebound. With a taste for goals the Wenger Boys went in search of a second before the break and it arrived in the 43rd minute when Arshavin this time turned supplier for Nicklas Bendtner who muscled his way into the box and sidefooted expertly into the far corner. After the break Marouane Chamakh had narrowly headed wide and Arshavin had force Al Habsi into a smart save, while at the other end Charles N’Zogbia forced Fabianski into a smart save. Things looked desperate for Wigan when Charles N’Zogbia stupidly headbutted Wilshere and received a straight red card. But incredibly the Latics pulled level ten minutes from time when Sebastien Squillaci headed the ball over his own line after Arsenal had failed to clear a corner. The Gunners were left grumbling in the 88th minute when they were denied a spot kick after a Nasri free-kick was deflected out by a hand in the Wigan wall.
