Catch-up: Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-1 in the reserves (video)

Chelsea 1 – Arsenal 2 (Barclays Premier Reserve League, February 15, 2010) Six minutes before the break, Arsenal took the lead as Jay Emmanuel-Thomas broke down the left, danced infield and teed up 17-year-old Luke Freeman to net his first reserve-team goal from close range. With 15 minutes to go Arsenal doubled their lead and once again Emmanuel-Thomas was the architect as the forward burst down the right to pick out Freeman, the striker in turn found Gilles Sunu and the Frenchman’s deflected shot beat Rhys Taylor. Chelsea hit back instantly within sixty seconds though as Borini’s low cross was tapped in by Nemanja Matic to set up a tense finish.

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal reserve side are now one point ahead of Aston Villa at the top of the league, though the Midlanders do have two games in hand.
