Match preview

Will World Cup bounce Morocco enjoy a morale-boosting victory over an in-form European nation?

Back in March, the Atlas Lions booked their ticket to Qatar by defeating DR Congo in the African play-offs.

Since then, the highly-unpopular Vahid Halilhodžić has been sacked as Head Coach, with Walid Regragui taking over.

Morocco’s World Cup campaign kicks off on Wednesday against Croatia, before taking on Belgium and Canada.

That is a very competitive group, so the North African side will have to be at their best to get out.

Georgia meanwhile have never qualified for a major tournament in their history, but there is hope that this’ll change at Euro 2024.

So far this year, Willy Sagnol’s team have won promotion to Nations League B, accumulating 16 points from six matches.

This guarantees a play-off place, which’ll probably come in hands, given that their qualification group features Spain, Scotland and Norway.

For this friendly, with Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia out injured, the Crusaders will not be at their best.

So, will Morocco prevail at Sharjah Stadium?
