Tottenham vs Chelsea – 101 Great Goals prediction: 3-1 Spurs

Tottenham to beat Chelsea 3-1 in the Premier League is 16/1 with Bet 365

On Saturday afternoon, defending Premier League champions Chelsea were stunned as they were defeated 3-2 at Stamford Bridge by Burnley.

The shocking defeat puts extra pressure on Chelsea’s board who have already failed to deliver for Antonio Conte in this summer’s transfer window.

For London rivals Tottenham, however, despite being the only side not to have yet made a signing in the Premier League (at the time of writing), they successfully overcame Newcastle United.

With injuries and suspensions mounting for Chelsea, this surely has to be a perfect opportunity for Tottenham to get some Wembley revenge for last season’s FA Cup semi-final defeat?

Huge odds on Chelsea to beat Spurs

Chelsea’s Hazard warning

Antonio Conte will be without a whole host of key players for Sunday’s battle.

Talisman Eden Hazard is not expected to be fit in time to face Tottenham despite training this week.

Hazard has been out since June after fracturing his ankle whilst with the Belgium national team.

New signing Tiemoue Bakayoko will have to wait to make his Chelsea debut as he too remains injured.

Conte has already bemoaned his squad size and now with Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas serving suspensions the Italian has left him with further problems.

“Sometimes you must accept different situations”

The former Juve coach has spoken of his frustration at allowing players like Matic to leave against his will:

“Matic knows very well what I think about him. Sometimes you must accept different decisions. But he is a great loss for us.”

Sunday will certainly prove to be a stern test for Conte’s squad as they look to get back on track.

Wembley hoodoo?

Tottenham’s record at the home of English football is somewhat worrying for a side facing the prospect of playing all home games there this season

Spurs have lost seven of their last eleven games at Wembley.

This includes Chelsea’s 4-2 win in last season’s FA Cup semi-final.

However, Tottenham showed encouraging signs in pre-season defeating a fully-strengthened Juventus side there.

Tottenham will certainly need to be at their best on Sunday to ensure they get off to a winning start at Wembley this season.

Ross Barkley battle

Both Tottenham and Chelsea are continuing to monitor Ross Barkley’s situation at Everton.

Barkley has recently been ruled out of action for around three months with a hamstring injury.

Although, this has not affected either Tottenham or Chelsea’s pursuit of the England international.

Ronald Koeman has confirmed that Everton are looking to sell the 23 year-old and it will be between Tottenham and Chelsea who will battle for his signature.

Tottenham team news v Chelsea

Youngster Kyle Walker-Peters may well be required to step up again as Kieran Trippier remains sidelined.

Erik Lamela, expected back in October, recovers from a hip injury.

Meanwhile, Danny Rose, who remains in Tottenham’s bad books, also continues to recovers from a lengthy lay-off.

Chelsea team news v Tottenham

Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas are both ruled out through suspension after seeing red against Burnley.

Eden Hazard and Tiemoue Bakayoko are both very unlikely to feature, despite returning to training.

Diego Costa will play no part as he continues to seek a move away from the club.

In better news for Chelsea, Pedro is expected to be fit in time to face Tottenham.
