101 Great Goals prediction: Swansea 1-1 Leicester
Following the dismissal of Craig Shakespeare during midweek, Michael Appleton takes charge of Leicester City as caretaker manager, for their trip to Swansea.
The Foxes dropped into the relegation zone following a 1-1 at home with West Bromwich Albion on Monday.
For the Swans meanwhile, a crucial 2-0 win at Huddersfield moved them up into 13th, however, just two points separate them from the bottom three.
Swansea v Leicester betting tips
Leicester are 31/20 to win their first match since Craig Shakespeare was sacked.
Back both sides to draw both halves (draw – draw) at 4/1.
Jamie Vardy to score first in a 1-1 draw is 25/1.
Abraham on fire
Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham has translated his fine form from the Championship to the Premier League.
The 20-year-old has made an impressive start to top-flight life, netting on four occasions – as many times as both Lacazette and Salah.
Abraham’s current form has even fuelled talk of a Chelsea recall, however, this has since been proven to not be possible.
Unsurprisingly, the Welsh club consider Abraham to be key in their bid for survival and no doubt the England Under-21 international will prove to be a handful for Leicester on Saturday.
Life after Shakespeare
Appleton faces a tricky task of picking up the players following Shakespeare’s sacking.
Shakespeare was a popular figure in the dressing room at Leicester, with the players disappointed to see him go.
Appleton has this season been Shakespeare’s assistant after he left his own managerial position at Oxford United over the summer.
Despite heavy investment in new signings, the Foxes have failed to regain any sort of form which took them to the title just two seasons ago.
There is a talented squad at the King Power, with players likes Slimani, Mahrez, Vardy and Schmeichel, but that has been hidden this season.
Leicester City’s Thai owners must, therefore, get the next appointment spot on or face the prospect of failing to cash in on their title-winning success.
But as mentioned, the focus here is whether or not Appleton can motivate the players for this huge six-pointer.
