Slovenia vs Sweden betting tips: UEFA Nations League preview, predictions and odds

This'll be their first competitive meeting; the two friendlies between the two finished 1-0 to Sweden in 2008 before a goalless draw eight years later. Slovenia have only lost three of their last 24 competitive home games. Sweden's last 14 competitive games have produced a measly 30 goals.

Under 2.5 goals is 8/15.

Under 2.5 goals and both teams to score NO is 20/21.

Sweden to win and both teams to score NO is 12/5.

Alexander Isak is 11/2 to break the deadlock and 21/10 to add to his nine international goals.

Match preview

Slovenia are competing at League B level for the first time, but now find themselves in an extremely tough group.

Two years ago, Matjaž Kek's side won promotion to this tier by topping their group, pipping Greece by just two points.

This means they come into this campaign unbeaten in nine UEFA Nations League games, but that record will be sorely put to the test this month.

Serbia and Norway complete a very tasty looking Group B4, meaning Slovenia will do very well to avoid relegation straight back to the third-tier.

They can take heart from the fact that only Russia, Austria, Bulgaria and England have beaten them on home soil since March 2013.

Sweden meanwhile have changed division following both Nations League seasons to date, so will be hoping that trend continues in 2020.

In the inaugural season, the Blågult won promotion to League A following a memorable last day victory over Russia in Solna.

But then, two years ago, Sweden were simply outclassed in the top-tier, losing five of six matches, and were relegated back to this level.

Since then, Janne Andersson's team have heartbreakingly missed out on a place at the World Cup in Qatar.

In March, they beat Czech Republic in a play-off semi-final, the only goal coming in extra time, but were eliminated by Poland five days later.

So now, attention turns to this competition and Sweden will need to be on top form if they're to go straight back up to League A.

Slovenia team news

Slovenia's star man Josip Iličić missed four months of the season due to compassionate leave.

He made his return for Atalanta on the final day of the Serie A season, but has not been called up by the national team.

Without him, Andraž Šporar could be their main goal threat; he spent the season on loan at Middlesbrough from Sporting CP.

Having said that, Benjamin Šeško is their great young hope after the 19 year old shone from RB Salzburg.

Captain Jan Oblak, despite an underwhelming season, is one of the best goalkeepers on the planet.

Sweden team news

Marcus Danielson, Mikael Lustig, Andreas Granqvist, Pontus Jansson and Zlatan Ibrahimović have all retired from international duty in the last 12 months.

With Victor Lindelöf also out injured, the back-line will have a fresh look to it, featuring Celtic's Carl Starfelt.

Further forward, Manchester United's Anthony Elanga man his senior debut in March and is set for more minutes this month.

He, Dejan Kuluševski, who's shone for Spurs, and Emil Forsberg are likely to support lone front man Alexander Isak.
