Mexico vs Suriname

Can Mexico lift some of the doom and gloom with the World Cup now less than five months away?

So far this month, Tata Martino's men have played a trio of friendlies across the United States, yielding mixed results.

First, Santiago Giménez was on target as el Tri beat Nigeria 2-1 in Arlington.

Subsequently though, they've been hammered 3-0 by Uruguay over in Glendale, followed by a bore goalless draw with Ecuador in Chicago.

Generally, the mood around the Mexican national team isn't one of positivity.

Last summer, they were beaten in the finals of both the Nations League and Gold Cup, both against USA, before coming second in World Cup qualifying.

El Tri have gone out in the round of 16 at each of the last seven World Cups but, with Argentina and Poland in their group, they might not even get that far.

So, can Suriname spring a surprise in Torreón?

The A-Selektie are competing in Nations League A for the first time, having topped their group above St. Vincent, Nicaragua and Dominica in 2019.

This saw Suriname qualify for a first CONCACAF Gold Cup since 1985, beating Guadeloupe but bowing out in the group stages.

So far in this campaign, Stanley Menzo's side have played two games, both against the group's third member Jamaica.

First, they held the Reggae Boyz to a 1-1 draw in Paramaribo before, on Tuesday, suffering a 3-1 defeat in Kingston; Yanic Wildschut scoring in vain.

So, despite their problems, Mexico should cruise to victory at the unfortunately named Estadio Corona.

Guyana vs Haiti

Promotion to League is heating up in Group B as the top two go head-to-had in Leonora.

Guyana currently occupy that vital top spot given that they have maximum points on the board.

First, the Golden Jaguars came from a goal down to beat Montserrat 2-1 thanks to Omari Glasgow's brace in Santo Domingo.

Then, on Tuesday, Trayon Bobb broke the deadlock with Glasgow providing the winner again, this time in a 2-1 victory over Bermuda.

Guyana made their Gold Cup debut in 2019 and finished second in their League B group last time round, behind only Jamaica.

So now, Jamaal Shabazz's side are dreaming of promotion to the top-tier, and another victory here would leave them in the box-seat.

Haiti meanwhile reached the semi-finals of that aforementioned Gold Cup in 2019 and were in Nations League A back then, relegated with no wins.

This year, les Grenadiers kicked off with a disappointing goalless draw against Bermuda before bouncing back by beating Montserrat 3-2.

Mondy Prunier, Carnejy Antoine and Steeven Saba all on target in the first 25 minutes of that one.

The Red and Blues have been one of CONCACAF's strongest teams in recent years, only losing six of their last 25 competitive outings.

Considering five of these defeats came against Canada, Mexico or the United States, that isn't bad.

So, will Haiti show their quality in this clash at National Track and Field Centre Leonora?

Montserrat vs Bermuda

Can either of these two teams get their CONCACAF Nations League campaigns up and running?

Montserrat currently sit rock bottom of Group B having lost both matches so far, 2-1 to Guyana and then 3-2 against Haiti on Tuesday.

The Emerald Boys were actually in decent form coming into this campaign, winning seven of their previous 14 competitive games, losing just three.

This includes going through World Cup qualifying unbeaten, but still missing out on the second round, two points below El Salvador.

Now though, if Willie Donachie's team are to avoid relegation to the bottom-tier, they need to rediscover that winning feeling and fast.

Bermuda are the most likely team they can catch, given that they kick off just one point above.

The Gombey Warriors drew 0-0 with Haiti in their group opener before a 2-1 defeat to Guyana three days later.

It came in vain, but Dante Leverock's spectacular overhead kick equaliser in Leonora is worth remembering.

Bermuda made their Gold Cup debut in 2019 but have subsequently only won three of 12 competitive internationals.

Will either claim a much needed victory at Estadio Olímpico Félix Sánchez?

U.S. Virgin Islands vs Bonaire

The top two in Group A of League C go head-to-head in Saint Croix, both looking to move into the box seat for promotion.

Bonaire laid down a real marker on matchday one, hammering Turks and Caicos Islands 4-1 with Ayrton Cicilia scoring a hat-trick.

Then, three days later, they raced into a 2-0 lead at home to Sint Maarten, only for the underdogs to fight back and snatch a point.

This though means Bonaire have won three of six Nations League games, losing just once, narrowly missing out on promotion back in 2019.

Right now, to the surprise of many, it's U.S. Virgin Islands who are their biggest challengers for top spot.

The Dashing Eagles drew 1-1 with Sint Maarten eight nights ago, taking the lead through J. C. Mack.

Then, on Monday, they pulled off a famous comeback to beat Turks and Caicos Islands 3-2 at Bethlehem Soccer Stadium.

Orion Mills equalised 13 minutes from time before Mack converted a 96th minute penalty.

Before this campaign, U.S. VI had lost eight successive international, conceding 23 goals in these games, but are now dreaming of promotion.

Will either claim three invaluable points?

Sint Maarten vs Turks and Caicos Islands

Will either side claim their first victory of this Nations League season?

Right now, Turks and Caicos Islands hold the unenviable position of being the only team in the bottom-tier yet to pick up a point.

Omar Edwards's side were hammered 4-1 by Bonaire on matchday one before a heartbreaking defeat in Saint Croix on Monday.

They led 2-1 against the U.S. Virgin Islands, only for the hosts to equalise late on before winning it with a 96th minute penalty.

Turks and Caicos Islands have now lost six consecutive competitive games, conceding a whopping 39 goals in these matches.

There is hope though as their last two victories, coming in this competition three years ago, both came against Sint Maarten.

Elvis Albertus' side come into this one with two points on the board, drawing 1-1 with U.S. VI before a 2-2 with Bonaire.

In the latter, Sint Marten came from 2-0 down to snatch a point; Ties Kerssies on target, followed by an own goal.

However, this does mean they're still winless in the Nations League, last winning a competitive game against British Virgin Islands 25 years ago!

Will it be an historic occasion at Stadion Rignaal Jean Francisca?
