Poland vs Wales betting tips: UEFA Nations League preview, predictions and odds

Poland are unbeaten in seven meetings with Wales, winning the last four in-a-row. The Dragons only victory over the Eagles came in their very first meeting, a World Cup qualifier 49 years ago in Cardiff.

Poland have only lost three of their last 28 competitive home games, with only Hungary, Holland and Italy beating them on home soil since 2013.

Under 2,5 goals is 4/6.

Both teams to score NO is 8/11.

Both teams to score NO and under 2.5 goals is 21/20.

Poland to win and both teams to score NO is 13/8.

Robert Lewandowski has scored 75 international goals, including 20 in his last 26 appearances. He is 13/5 to break the deadlock and 5/6 to add to this tally.

Match preview

The third season of the UEFA Nations League kicks off with this top division fixture in Wrocław.

Poland come into this four-game international window buoyant having qualified for Qatar 2022 in their last outing.

Back in March, the White and Reds ousted Sweden 2-0 in their play-off final at Stadion Śląski.

Robert Lewandowski broke the deadlock from the penalty spot, before Piotr Zieliński's goal ensured Poland are going to a ninth World Cup Finals.

In November, the Eagles will face Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Argentina, aiming to reach the knockout phase for the first time since Mexico '86.

Before then, Czesław Michniewicz's team face six UEFA Nations League matches, looking to improve their patchy record in this competition.

Poland have never competed outside League A but, to date, have only won two of ten matches, narrowly avoiding relegation in 2020.

Will they start this latest campaign with a victory?

Wales meanwhile will see their World Cup fate determined later this week, meaning they're far from 100% focussed on this trip east.

Back in March, Rob Page's men won 2-1 in their play-off semi-final, with Gareth Bale's majestic brace downing Austria in Cardiff.

So, on Sunday, the Dragons will host Scotland or Ukraine in the play-off final; that semi takes place concurrently with this game.

It goes without saying, but it's worth reiterating, this'll be a massive occasion as Wales are one game away from qualifying for a first World Cup since 1958.

But, before then, Rob Page's team will compete in the top-tier of the UEFA Nations League for the very first time.

Two years ago, Wales won promotion to League A, accumulating 16 points from games against Finland, Republic of Ireland and Bulgaria.

So, to date, the Dragons have won seven of ten matches in this competition, losing just two, but will face much tougher challenges in a higher division.

Netherlands and Belgium complete Group A4 and, if Wales are to avoid relegation, their home form is likely to be key.

Here, on the road, with Wales' priorities elsewhere, Poland are big favourites to win at Stadion Wrocław.

Poland team news

Given that Poland aren't in action for a week after this, with the trip to Brussels, Czesław Michniewicz's best team will be on show.

This, of course, includes captain Robert Lewandowski; his tally of 75 international goals is only 22 less than the remaining 37-man squad combined.

Also, only ten men have netted more times for their country, needing just three more to go above Pelé.

Alongside, Arkadiusz Milik is likely to be Lewandowski's strike partner, chosen over Krzysztof Piątek and in-form Adam Buksa.

The latter had scored in seven successive appearances for MLS club New England Revs before that streak came to an end on Saturday.

Elsewhere, experienced faces Wojciech Szczęsny, Kamil Glik and Grzegorz Krychowiak all remain key figures.

Aston Villa's Matty Cash started March's play-off victory and will win his fifth cap, looking to nail down that right-back position.

Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich missed that game suspended, but will be back in for this one.

Wales team news

In contrast, with a once in a generation final to come on Sunday, don't expect to see any of Rob Page's stars in Wrocław.

Gareth Bale sat on the bench on Saturday and left with his fifth Champions League winners medal, the last time he'll be on a Real Madrid teamsheet.

He, Aaron Ramsey, Joe Allen, Dan James, Ben Davies and other key cogs are not going to be risked.

Likewise Brennan Johnson, who started for Nottingham Forest in Sunday's Championship Play-off Final, is likely to be given a break.

In goal, Wayne Hennessey won his 100th cap in a friendly against Czech Republic in March, but Danny Ward is likely to don the gloves here.

At the back, Joe Rodon has only played 22 minutes for Tottenham since 9 January, so will appreciate the match practice in this game.

Cardiff defender Oliver Denham and Ipswich winger Wes Burns will be hoping to make their international debuts at some point during this five-game window.
