Match preview

Will 2022 be a year to remember for Orlando City?

This'll be their eighth season in Major League Soccer and, having failed to do so at the first five attempts, they've now reached the play-offs in successive seasons.

However, Óscar Pareja's side were then eliminated in the first round, going down 3-1 to Nashville in Tennessee.

Since then, a lot has changed for the Lions.

Three of their key attackers, Nani, Chris Mueller and Daryl Dike, have all left the club for Venezia, Hibs and West Brom respectively.

In response, they've spent big, $9 million to be exact, on 20 year old Facundo Torres and, to say they have high hopes for him is an understatement.

Ercan Kara and César Araújo have also landed in Florida, joining star forwards Tesho Akindele and Alexandre Pato who've stayed.

Orlando City's roster certainly has talent, it's just a question of whether their new signings can hit the ground running.

Club de Foot Montréal meanwhile will be hoping for a more normal season having played half of the last one in Miami due to Covid-19 travel restrictions.

Wilfried Nancy's side finished tenth in the east but saved the campaign by winning a fifth Canadian Championship, beating Toronto in the final.

This meant Montréal's season has started early, taking on Santos Laguna in the CONCACAF Champions League.

Despite losing the first leg in Mexico 1-0, they roared back and won 3-0 at Stade Olympique on Wednesday night to reach the quarter-finals.

Romell Quioto, Đorđe Mihailović and Ismaël Koné all on target in a memorable victory.

In transfer terms, Alistair Johnston and Kei Kamara have both touched down in Quebec, bolstering this squad.

Who will win this tough to call match at Exploria Stadium?
