Luxembourg vs Faroe Islands betting tips: UEFA Nations League preview, predictions and odds

Faroe Islands won their first three meetings with Luxembourg, coming in 2001 and 2004, although they were beaten when the two met at Tórsvøllur last Tuesday. The Faroes have only won three competitive away games since 2001, beating Andorra in 2020, Latvia in 2016 and Greece two years earlier.

Luxembourg to win and over 2.5 goals is 13/8.

Luxembourg to win and both teams to score is 10/3.

Gerson Rodrigues is 8/1 to break the deadlock and 5/2 to add to his 11 internationals goals.

Match preview

Just a week on from their clash in Tórshavn, Luxembourg and Faroe Islands meet again.

In that one, the Faroes actually ended the game with nine-men; René Joensen and Sølvi Vatnhamar were both dismissed.

The former proved particularly costly because, just six minutes later, Luxembourg were awarded a penalty that Gerson Rodrigues slammed home.

That proved to be the only goal of the night, so will this one in Luxembourg City go the same way?

At the time, this victory made it two wins out of two in this group for Luxembourg who'd swatted aside Lithuania in Vilnius three days earlier.

However, this streak came to an end on Saturday with Türkiye providing too strong, winning 2-0 in Luxembourg City.

Nevertheless, Luc Holtz's side are an improving force, winning eight of their last 17 competitive games, despite only winning ten of the previous 124.

So, ahead of September's trip to İstanbul, will Luxembourg keep their promotion hopes alive with a victory here?

Faroe Islands meanwhile began this campaign with back-to-back defeats, including a 4-0 drubbing at Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadyumu.

At the weekend, it looked like being more of the same when Lithuania took a sixth minute lead at Tórsvøllur.

However, Viljormur Heiðunum Davidsen's penalty, followed by Jákup Biskopstø Andreasen's stunning curler, saw the Faroes to a 2-1 victory.

Håkan Ericson's side won promotion from League D last time round and, having beaten the side bottom of this group, are now in a decent position to stay up.

In this one though, the hosts should have too much quality at Stade de Luxembourg.

Luxembourg team news

Unsurprisingly, Gerson Rodrigues and Danel Sinani have been Luxembourg's scorers in this group, and will continue to be the main threats.

Rodrigues scored a stunning winner in Dublin last year and has 11 international goals to his name.

Sébastien Thill may have scored a stoppage time winning volley at the Bernabéu for FC Sheriff this season, but remains a substitute for his country.

With Laurent Jans sidelined injured, New York City FC's Maxime Chanot is their key man at the back.

Faroe Islands team news

René Joensen and Sølvi Vatnhamar, who were sent off in the reverse fixture, are available again having served their one-match bans on Saturday.

Centre-back Odmar Færø is suspended though having picked up his second yellow card of the competition against Lithuania.

Striker Klæmint Olsen has scored ten times for his country to date, including an amazing free-kick against Malta in 2020.

Patrik Johannesen was chosen as his striker partner at the weekend and could keep his place over Jóan Símun Edmundsson.
