Iceland vs Albania betting tips: UEFA Nations League preview, predictions and odds

Iceland have won three of their last four meetings with Albania, victorious in all three encounters in Reykjavík. Although, their last clash did produce a 4-2 victory for Albania in Tirana in September 2019.

Both teams to score is 1/1.

Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals is 7/4.

Andri Guðjohnsen is 11/1 to break the deadlock and 9/2 to score anytime.

Match preview

After making a positive start to this campaign on Thursday night, will Iceland, finally, claim their first-ever UEFA Nations League win?

On matchday one, Arnar Viðarsson's side looked set to beat Israel in Haifa, coming from a goal down to lead.

Þórir Jóhann Helgason equalised from close-range, pouncing on some calamitous goalkeeper, before Arnór Sigurðsson fired home a go-ahead goal.

However, Strákarnir okkar could not hold on for a momentous victory with Israel equalising at Sammy Ofer Stadium five minutes from time.

Before this, Iceland had lost all ten UEFA Nations League matches, all in League A, suffering relegation two years ago.

So now, the Euro 2016 quarter-finalists are looking to win in this tournament for the very first time.

Albania meanwhile kick off their third Nations League campaign in Reykjavík.

Edoardo Reja's side won promotion to the second-tier two years ago, topping their group above Belarus, Lithuania and Kazakhstan.

Since then, the Red and Blacks have won six of ten World Cup qualifiers, featuring a pair of memorable victories over Hungary.

With Russia having been disqualified following the invasion of Ukraine, Group B2 contains only three teams.

All three sides are well-balanced, meaning promotion to the Nations League's top division is very much up for grabs.

Will either claim a valuable victory at Laugardalsvöllur?

Iceland team news

Iceland are still without their third-highest scorer of all-time Gylfi Sigurðsson who hasn't played for over a year due to off-field allegations.

With other experienced heads having recently retired, Birkir Bjarnason is the captain of this side, winning his 109th cap.

Rúnar Alex Rúnarsson, owned by Arsenal, is now first-choice goalkeeper after Hannes Þór Halldórsson hung up his gloves.

Real Madrid Castilla's Andri Guðjohnsen has two international goals to his name, both coming in World Cup qualifiers last autumn.

However, he could be left on the bench with Sveinn Aron Guðjohnsen leading the attack.

Albania team news

Albania will hope freshness is in their favour as this is their first game of the window.

However, Southampton striker Armando Broja will not be adding to his three international goals after testing positive for Covid-19.

So, Sokol Cikalleshi is likely to come in up front alongside Myrto Uzuni.

Centre-back Berat Gjimshiti and Marash Kumbulla, of Atalanta and Roma, as well as Torino goalkeeper Etrit Berisha are the backbone of this side.
