Tottenham vs Rochdale predictions: FA Cup preview, line-ups

101 Great Goals’ prediction: Tottenham 3-0 Rochdale

Tottenham to beat Rochdale 3-0 is 5/1 with Paddy Power.

Mauricio Pochettino will know that winning the FA Cup, as much as he may deny it, will provide his side with a huge boost for future success.

With the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City all dropping out of the competition and the quarter-finals now in sight, Tottenham will be foolish not to go all out from here on in.

Rochdale showed incredible resilience at Spotland to take this tie to a replay, but with Spurs flying at Wembley, this should be a routine win for the Premier League outfit.

Tottenham vs Rochdale: Who will win?

Tottenham are overwhelming favourites to win this FA Cup replay at 1/12.

Rochdale can be backed at an enormous 25/1.

Lucas Moura, who scored for Spurs in the first game, is 4/1 to claim the first goal.

Tottenham vs Rochdale preview

Tottenham left it late last time out, as who other than Harry Kane salvaged his side a crucial three points in their quest for a top-four finish as his looping header two minutes from time beat Crystal Palace goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey.

Spurs now face the prospect of traveling to Wembley three times within the space of just seven days, as they take on Rochdale, Huddersfield and a massive Champions League tie with Juventus.

The Dale remain cut adrift at the foot of League One as the lowest-ranked team left in the competition prepare for one of the club’s biggest fixtures in its 111-year history.

Wigan, who produced the biggest shock of the competition this season by defeating Man City to reach the quarter-finals, secured a 1-0 win over Rochdale on Saturday at the DW Stadium.

The winner of Wednesday’s FA Cup tie will travel to face Swansea in the quarter-finals. The Welsh side beat Sheffield Wednesday in their replay on Tuesday evening.

FA Cup Focus: Tottenham’s defensive crisis

Pochettino faces a real dilemma in defence, as both his two Belgian central defenders Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld are recovering from injury.

This leaves Spurs very short in numbers at the back with Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth the club’s only available central-defenders.

This becomes an issue for Tottenham with only Sanchez having played there regularly whilst Dier and Foyth playing just a small handful of games in that position this season.

Not only is Pochettino now having to juggle his options with a number of fixtures on the horizon, he now must do so with limited options.

Tottenham vs Rochdale team news

Tottenham are without Vertonghen and Alderweireld who both missed Tottenham’s trip to Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The absence of the Belgian centre backs was confirmed by the club and Mauricio Pochettino on Tuesday. Vertonghen could be back for the home match with Huddersfield.

Pochettino has also said in numerous interviews in the build up to the FA Cup replay that there will be heavy rotation with Spurs playing three home games in seven days.

Aside from that, neither side has any other fresh injury concerns going into Wednesday’s Wembley clash.
