Portugal produced an emphatic performance in their Nations League opener to defeat Croatia 4-1.

Fernando Santos’ side have now won eight of their last nine games and are one of the best nations in Europe currently.

Sweden lost their opening game to world champions France in a very closely contested affair.

Kylian Mbappe’s goal proved to be the only goal of the game and clinch Les Bleus the three points.

Sweden vs Portugal: Recommended bets

Portugal have been in sensational form recently and are expected to continue their hot streak on Tuesday.

A Seleção are at 7/1 to win 2-0 against Sweden – which is what we at 101 Great Goals are predicting.

Bruno Fernandes was in outstanding form for United last season and is expected to once again start for Portugal on Tuesday.

Given his fine form and ability to score goals, he is great value to score the opening goal on Tuesday at 17/2 and 3/1 at anytime.

Sweden vs Portugal: Match preview

Sweden were unfortunate to lose 1-0 to France on Saturday in what was a very closely contested battle.

Mbappe managed to score the only goal of the game, with Sweden unfortunate not to pick up at least a point.

Sweden managed more possession, shots, shots on target and passes than France and will certainly come away disappointed with the result.

Janne Andersson’s side had been in great form heading into Saturday’s clash having won five of their last six.

The defeat was their first since all the way back in June 2019 when they lost to Spain and ended a run of 8 games without one.

Portugal’s red hot form

Meanwhile, Portugal raised plenty of eyebrows by emphatically defeating Croatia 4-1.

Goals from Joao Caneclo, Diogo Jota, Joao Felix and Andre Silva saw them comfortably cruise past the 2018 World Cup finalists.

Fernando Santos’ side even managed to produce a display without captain and talisman Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo missed the win due to a toe infection but is expected to return to the side for Tuesday’s trip to Stockholm.

Portugal are of course attempting to retain the Nations League following their triumph in the competition back in 2019.

After Tuesday, next up for the holders in the Nations League is a trip to Paris for what will be a crucial match.

Sweden team news vs Portugal

With Sweden failing to find the back of the net against France, question marks will be asked of their attack.

Alexander Isak would be the name pushing for a start with either Marcus Berg or Robin Quiason dropping out.

Portugal team news vs Sweden

Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to return for Portugal on Tuesday.

The forward suffered a toe infection which saw him miss the win over Croatia on Saturday.

The goalkeeper spot will be a big talking point again on Tuesday with Anthony Lopes being picked ahead of Rui Patricio against Croatia.

Andre Gomes will miss the game after withdrawing from the squad due to injury.
