Spain vs Poland betting prediction: Spain 2-1 Poland

Spain will be disappointed with their performance in their Group E opener against Sweden. Luis Enrique’s side will need to step things up a gear if they have ambitions of reaching the latter stages of the competition. A win on Saturday would see them move to the top of the table.

Poland lost to Slovakia in their opening match, but another defeat on Friday would not necessarily spell the end of the road in this competition, as a third-placed finish would still be possible.

At Euro 2020, the four best third-placed teams from the six groups will also advance to the knockout stage of the competition.

Recommended Spain vs Poland betting tips

Gerard Moreno to score. Moreno has netted five goals in his 12 appearances for the national team. The Villarreal forward is tipped to return to the starting eleven following Spain’s lacklustre performance against Sweden.

Over 2.5 goals. Although Poland have now failed to win any of their last four matches, they have managed to score in each of their last seven.

Spain vs Poland betting tips: Match preview

Matchday two of Euro 2020 continues on Saturday as Spain take on Poland in Seville.

The other match in Group E has already taken place. Sweden beat Slovakia 1-0 in Saint Petersburg on Friday, courtesy of an Emil Forsberg penalty. That result means that Spain head into Saturday’s game 3rd in the group on 1 point, while Poland are last with no points.

Poland lost their opener 2-1 against Slovakia. Wojciech Szczesny conceded an own goal early on before Karol Linetty equalised for the Poles. Grzegorz Krychowiak was sent off on 62 minutes and Slovakia capitalised by scoring the winner seven minutes later.

Spain drew 0-0 with Sweden in their opening match, their second goalless draw in three matches. Spain are unbeaten in their last nine matches, and their last 14 at home.

Spain are currently ranked 6th in the FIFA World Rankings, while Poland are ranked 21st.

There are a few club connections between the two nations. Spain’s backup goalkeeper Robert Sanchez and Poland’s Jakub Moder both play for Brighton. Diego Llorente and Mateusz Klich both play their club football for Leeds United. Wojciech Szczesny and Alvaro Morata are teammates at Juventus, while Piotr Zielinski and Fabian Ruiz both play for Napoli.

Robert Lewandowski top-scored for Poland with six goals during qualifying. Alvaro Morata, Rodrigo, and Sergio Ramos each scored four goals for Spain during qualifying – Rodrigo and Ramos failed to make Spain’s 26-man squad.

Spain have a great record against Poland, winning eight and drawing one of their 10 previous matches. That said, their most recent meeting – a 6-0 win for Spain – was played more than 11 years ago. Poland’s only win over Spain came back in 1980.

Spain’s final group game takes place on Wednesday against Slovakia in Seville, while Poland face Sweden in Saint Petersburg. Both matches will kick-off simultaneously.

Spain team news vs Poland

Sergio Busquests is a doubt for Spain after only just returning to training following Covid-19.

Thiago Alcantara and Gerard Moreno could replace Pedri and Alvaro Morata from the side that drew with Sweden.

Poland team news vs Spain

Poland have a number of unavailable players. Grzegorz Krychowiak serves a suspension after his double booking against Slovakia, meaning Karol Linetty should drop into a deeper role. Jakub Moder is an option if Piotr Zielinski plays in attack.
