Betting prediction: Southampton 0-2 Arsenal
Arsenal head to St. Mary’s on Saturday in hot form. The Gunners have won five of their last six in all competitions – including a 3-1 win against Chelsea on Boxing Day – while keeping five clean sheets in the process.
It’s been a question of which side is willing to show up for Southampton. A credible 1-0 win against Liverpool should be lauded, but inconsistency in front of goal has led Ralph Hasenhüttl’s troops to just three goals in their last six outings across the league and FA Cup.
Southampton vs Arsenal: Recommended bets
– Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to score anytime
The Gabonese hitman is coming off a brace against Newcastle on Monday evening. Though he’s not fired on all cylinders this campaign, you’d be hard-pressed to bet against his historic form in front of goal to remain quiet much longer.
– Halftime Time/Full Time: Draw – Arsenal
The Gunners have gone into halftime level in four of their last five outings across all competitions, but Mikel Arteta’s vaunted team-talks have the habit of kicking his side on in the second half.

Southampton vs Arsenal: Match preview
Southampton continue their four-match stint at home on the south coast when they welcome in-form Arsenal to St. Mary’s. Saints, however, have not been marching in form of late.
Apart from their comfortable 2-0 FA Cup third round win against Shrewsbury, Danny Ings and company have just one win in their last six beforehand. It is a stark contrast to their blistering form which saw them post a 7-2-1 record from September 26th-December 13th.
With Ings recovering from a positive Covid-19 test, and the likes of Jannik Vestergaard, Nathan Redmond, and Moussa Djenepo all unfit for service, Ralph Hasenhüttl could be up against it as he bids to right the ship coming out of the post-Christmas period.
As for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, the winds of change have swept across the Emirates pitch at not a moment too soon.
It was not long ago that some postulated that the bell was about to toll for the former Gunners midfielder. But the Basque headmaster has orchestrated a revival of late, which is in no small part thanks to the contributions of academy products Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe.
Per Squawka, Smith Rowe’s performance against Newcastle on Monday in which he created four chances from open play, was the most registered by a Gunners player all season. With summer acquisition Willian and record-signing Nicolas Pépé both out of form, the young pair could still feature at some stage despite fixture congestion. The departure of Mesut Özil and fitness concerns around Reiss Nelson leave Arteta short of reliable attacking depth at current.
Southampton team news vs Arsenal
Ralph Hasenhüttl will be unable to call-on Moussa Djenepo, Michael Obafemi, Nathan Redmond, Jannik Vestergaard, and Will Smallbone, as all are unfit for duty.
Ibrahim Diallo still looks set to partner James Ward-Prowse in the center of the park.
Danny Ings could feature at some stage if he passes fit for selection after his positive Covid-19 test.
Arsenal team news vs Southampton
Mikel Arteta will still be without the services of Spanish duo Dani Ceballos and Pablo Mari through injury. The rest of the first-team squad is fit and available.
Gabriel Martinelli, Willian, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, and Nicolas Pépé could all be in-line to feature in the match day XI given the same fixture taking place just three days later in the Premier League.
