Qarabag FK vs Arsenal betting tips: Europa League match preview & predictions

Qarabag FK vs Arsenal prediction: Qarabag 1-2 Arsenal

Unai Emery is expected to rotate heavily on Thursday, but Arsenal’s strength in depth should see them pick up another three points.

Qarabag have lost all four of their previous matches against English opposition.

Qarabag vs Arsenal: Who will win?

Arsenal are 9/20 favourites to win on Thursday evening, with Qarabag priced at 15/2. The draw can be backed at 7/2.

The Gunners have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last six Europa League matches. Both teams to score is 1/1.

Danny Welbeck is very well priced at 4/1 to score the opening goal of the game and 6/5 to score anytime in the 90. The England striker already has four goals to his name this season.

The Gunners capped off a brilliant month with a 2-0 home win over Watford. The scoreline flattered the Gunners somewhat as they were gifted the lead through a late Craig Cathcart own goal before Mesut Ozil sealed the win.

Arsenal won six out of six in all competitions in the month of September, and are currently on a seven-match winning streak.

Unai Emery’s side head into the game at the top of their group after they won their opening Group E match against Vorskla 4-2 at the Emirates two weeks ago.

Goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (2) Danny Welbeck and Mesut Ozil had Arsenal 4-0 up before the Ukrainian side came back with two of their own, against the run of play.

Thursday’s match in Baku – some 4,000km away – is Arsenal’s longest ever away trip in terms of distance.

Because of this, Emery is expected to leave a number of big-name players in London, with one eye on Sunday’s London derby against Fulham.

Who are Qarabag FK?

6-times Azerbaijani champions Qarabag FK will be looking to score their first ever goal against English opponents.

Qarabag are top of the Premyer Liqa table with 16 points after 6 matches.

The side managed by Qurban Qurbanov lost their opening group match 2-0 to Sporting. They have won three on the spin since the defeat in Portugal a fortnight ago.

Unsurprisingly, Qarabag have never faced Arsenal before in their history. They have, however, played against London opposition on four occasions.

The Horsemen lost both of their matches against Chelsea in last season’s Champions League, as well as both of their matches against Spurs in the 2015/16 Europa League.

The venue for Thursday’s match is also where the 2019 Europa League final will take place.

Qarabag team news vs Arsenal

Dani Quintana is Qarabag’s only reported injury concern. The Spaniard is ruled out until December with ligament damage.

Brazilian Vagner is set to start in goal, ahead of Iceland goalkeeper Hannes Halldorsson.

Arsenal team news vs Qarabag

Emery could make as many as nine changes from the side which started against Watford.

Third-choice goalkeeper Emi Martinez could start in goal. Petr Cech’s hamstring injury means that Bernd Leno is unlikely to be risked in the group stages of this competition.

With limited options in central defence, Shkodran Mustafi and Rob Holding are expected to continue their partnership. Sokratis Papastathopoulos is available again and provides an alternate option.

Sead Kolasinac and Stephen Lichtsteiner should start in the full-back positions, with Nacho Monreal given a well-earned rest.

Danny Welbeck is expected to lead the line, possibly flanked by Aaron Ramsey and Emile Smith Rowe.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan will not be travelling with the side due to tensions between Azerbaijan and his home nation of Armenia.

Joe Willock and Eddie Nketiah were not involved in Monday night’s U23s game against Leicester, suggesting that they could feature on Thursday.

Carl Jenkinson, Laurent Koscielny, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Ainsley Maitland-Niles remain sidelined through injury.
