Liverpool and Arsenal meet at Anfield once again, less than a week after their last meeting. This time, the two sides are playing in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, competing for a spot in the quarter-finals.
Arsenal and Liverpool can’t seem to get enough of each other. Thursday’s game will be the fourth match between the two sides since July and the sixth in just over a year.
Liverpool beat the Gunners 3-1 at Anfield on Monday night, which saw them move to the top of the log on goals scored. Arsenal took the lead in bizarre fashion, with Alex Lacazette capitalising on an error from Andrew Robertson.
Arsenal’s lasted less than three minutes before Sadio Mane equalised. Shortly after, Robertson gave Liverpool the lead. Substitute Diogo Jota sealed the win with a late third.
The two sides also met at Anfield at the exact same stage of this competition last season, producing one of the most entertaining matches of the campaign. It finished 5-5 after 90 minutes and Liverpool went on to win the resulting penalty shootout 5-4.
Prior to Monday, Arsenal had made a great start to the season with four wins out of four. Mikel Arteta’s side knocked Leicester out in the third round with a 2-0 win at the King Power last week. Eddie Nketiah netted for Arsenal.
Liverpool beat League One side Lincoln City 7-2 in the previous round. Xherdan Shaqiri, Takumi Minamino (2), Curtis Jones (2), Marko Grujic, and Divock Origi were all on the scoresheet.
A reminder that the match will go straight to a penalty shootout if the scores are level after 90 minutes.

Backup goalkeeper Adrian should start in goal. Joe Gomez is likely to be the senior central defender, alongside Rhys Williams. Summer signing Konstantinos Tsimikas should come in for Andrew Robertson.
Fringe players Xherdan Shaqiri, Divock Origi and Marko Grujic should all be involved. James Milner and Diogo Jota could also start after their substitute appearances on Monday.
Captain Jordan Henderson is a doubt with a hamstring injury and is unlikely to be risked for this fixture.
Thiago Alcantara has tested positive for COVID-19 and will begin a 10-day isolation period.
Joel Matip and former Arsenal man Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remain sidelined.

William Saliba is yet to make his Arsenal debut and could be on the bench.
Shkodran Mustafi, Emile Smith Rowe, Calum Chambers and Gabriel Martinelli remain sidelined, while Cedric Soares and Sokratis Papastathopoulos are doubftul.
