Leicester City vs Arsenal: Recommended bets

Jamie Vardy to score. Vardy has an incredible personal record against the Gunners, with 10 goals in 11 matches.

Both teams to score. With both sides set to make changes at the back, we could see a few goals in this one.

Over 2.5 goals. Four of the last six meetings between the two sides have produced three or more goals.

Leicester City vs Arsenal: Match preview

Leicester host Arsenal in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

Arsenal have won three out of three this season, including their first two Premier League matches. It wasn’t pretty, but Arsenal beat West Ham 2-1 at the Emirates on Saturday evening.

Alexandre Lacazette’s bullet header opened the scoring but the Hammers were back on level terms before the break. Arsenal had to work hard to find another opening and finally found the winner through Eddie Nketiah in the 85th minute.

Leicester won 4-2 at home to Burnley on Saturday. Harvey Barnes, James Justin and Dennis Praet were on the scoresheet for Rodgers’ side. The result means the Foxes are top of the log on goal difference.

Their most recent meeting, at the back end of last season, ended in a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s opener was cancelled out by a late Jamie Vardy equaliser. Arsenal finished the match with 10 men after Eddie Nketiah was shown a straight red card.

This is the first time the sides are meeting in a cup competition since 2000.

Wednesday’s tie will be decided on the night, meaning that the game will go to extra time if the scores are level after 90 minutes.

The winners of the tie will face either Lincoln City or Liverpool away in the next round.

Leicester City team news vs Arsenal

Brendan Rodgers could lineup with five at the back.

Fringe players such as Christian Fuchs, Hamza Choudhury, and Kelechi Iheanacho could all be handed starts

James Maddison is working his way back to full fitness and is expected to start. Wes Morgan and Marc Albrighton are also in contention to be handed recalls.

Jonny Evans serves the third of a three-match ban, while Filip Benkovic remains injured.

Wednesday’s game may come too soon for Cengiz Under, who has recently signed for Leicester on loan from Roma.

Ricardo Pereira is a long-term absentee with a knee injury.

Arsenal team news vs Leicester City

Mikel could make 11 changes from Saturday’s win over West Ham, and could even change his system to accommodate everyone.

Fringe players like Joe Willock, Cedric Soares, and Reiss Nelson could all start. Eddie Nketiah should replace Alexandre Lacazette following his winner against the Hammers. Nketiah was sent off minutes after coming on when Arsenal last faced Leicester.

David Luiz has made a surprise recovery from a neck injury and could start in the heart of a five-man defence. William Saliba could make his first start for the club.

Kieran Tierney was a late withdrawal from the starting eleven on Saturday due to an injury in the warm-up. While Arteta does not think the injury was serious, it’s unlikely that Tierney will be risked for the Carabao Cup.

Arsenal completed the signing of Icelandic goalkeeper Runar Alex Runnarsson from Dijon on Monday. While it’s likely that he will be Arsenal cup goalkeeper for the remainder of the season, Wednesday’s game may come too soon for him.

If Arteta decides to rest Bernd Leno, then Matt Macey could make his Arsenal debut – even if he is looking likely to leave the club this window.

Shkodran Mustafi, Pablo Mari, Calum Chambers, Gabriel Martinelli, and Emile Smith Rowe are all sidelined through injury.
