The now former nine-in-a-row champions take on the side that has dethroned them.

Between 2012 and 2020, Juventus won nine straight Scudetto; the previous longest sequence was five held by Juve (1930-35), Torino (1942-49) and Inter (2005-10).

La Vecchia Signora also won four Coppa Italias, five Supercoppa Italianas and reached two Champions League Finals during those dominant years.

This season though has been quite the fall from grace for the Old Lady.

Last weekend, they played Inter’s great rivals, A.C. Milan, at Allianz Stadium but were absolutely demolished 3-0.

That’s their third home league defeat of the campaign after previous embarrassing reverses against Fiorentina and newly-promoted Benevento.

This loss to Milan though could be the most costly of them all as it was a massive dent in I Bianconeri’s top four hopes.

Juve did bounce back on Wednesday night, beating Sassuolo 3-1 at Mapei Stadium – Città del Tricolore.

Gianluigi Buffon saved an early penalty before goals from Adrien Rabiot, Cristiano Ronaldo and then Paulo Dybala secured the victory.

Despite this, Andrea Pirlo’s side remain fifth, one point behind Napoli and three adrift of Atalanta and A.C. Milan.

It would be an absolute catastrophe if Juventus missed out on the Champions League, both reputationally and financially.

After this, they face Atalanta in the Coppa Italia Final before concluding the league campaign at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara against Bologna next Sunday.

Their top four hopes are far from over but, another home defeat here, and they could be.

Will Juventus snatch a massive victory when they need it most?

Will Inter win the Derby d’Italia?

In contrast, it’s party time for Internazionale.

Antonio Conte was the man who began Juve’s domination of Italian football and has now ended it.

Back on 17 January, goals from Arturo Vidal and then Nicolò Barella saw Inter beat Juve 2-0 at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Since then, there’s been no stopping Inter as they’ve amassed 51 points from a possible 57.

The Scudetto was confirmed a day after their 2-0 victory at Crotone on 1 May.

Since, I Nerazzurri have enjoyed back-to-back home wins, 5-1 over Sampdoria and then, on Wednesday, 3-1 against Roma.

Marcelo Brozović, Matías Vecino and Romelu Lukaku scoring in the latter.

That means Lukaku has scored 22 Serie A goals this season, six behind Ronaldo who’s surely going to win his first Capocannoniere.

But it’s Lukaku and his teammates who’ll be lifting the Serie A trophy next weekend when Udinese visit San Siro.

This is their first Scudetto since winning the treble in 2010 under future Roma manager José Mourinho.

It’s their first trophy of any kind since the Coppa Italia a decade ago.

Now, having knocked Juventus off their perch, Conte would love to destroy his former employers even further by, potentially, ending their top four ambitions.

Will Inter win both league Derby d’Italias in one season for the first time since 1993/94?

Andrea Pirlo is a man under serious pressure but will he get his team selection right for this massive game?

In goal, 43 year old Gianluigi Buffon got a rare start on Wednesday night in which he actually saved an early penalty.

Despite this, with Buffon leaving this summer, regular number one Wojciech Szczęsny is expected to return.

His place at Juve is also uncertain with rumours circulating that Gianluigi Donnarumma will be joining from A.C. Milan.

Ahead of the goalkeeper, Pirlo has deployed around seven different formations this season but appears to have settled on, what is ostensibly, a 4-4-2 in recent weeks.

Matthijs de Ligt is the first choice centre-back but who’s alongside him tends to change.

Giorgio Chiellini is likely to return after Leonardo Bonucci was rotated in on Wednesday.

Alex Sandro will be at left-back with fellow Brazilian Danilo likely to get the nod over the more attack-minded Juan Cuadrado on the opposite flank.

In midfield, as was the case a week ago in the heavy defeat to Milan, Rodrigo Bentancur could be deployed alongside Adrien Rabiot with Weston McKennie pushed wide right.

Arthur, who started against Sassuolo, would drop out, joining Aaron Ramsey on the bench.

This only leaves one spot available for a more natural wide-player.

Federico Chiesa’s form is likely to see him get the nod over Dejan Kuluševski, Federico Bernardeschi and Félix Correia.

In attack, Paulo Dybala is likely to be back on the bench with Álvaro Morata returning as Cristiano Ronaldo’s dovetail.

Ronaldo is Serie A’s leading scorer this season but will he fire his team to a victory when they really need him to?

As for Internazionale, despite the fact they were crowned champions a fortnight ago, Antonio Conte will pick his strongest XI for this game that he’d love to win.

Samir Handanovič will, as always, be in goal; this season’s Scudetto is the first honour the 36 year old has ever won.

In defence, as always, will be three centre-backs in Conte’s classic formation.

Danilo D’Ambrosio and Milan Škriniar are likely to start alongside Alessandro Bastoni which would mean Andrea Ranocchia and Stefan de Vrij miss out.

The latter is only just back after injury.

Ivan Perišić has reinvented himself as a wing-back in recent months, despite having looked frozen out in the autumn after winning the treble on loan at Bayern last season.

He’ll keep his place on the left with Achraf Hakimi on the other side; Ashley Young and Matteo Darmian are the alternatives.

In the middle, another man who looked surplus to requirements not so long ago is Christian Eriksen.

However, now playing as more of a Pirlo-style regista, the Dane will start alongside, probably, Nicolò Barella and Marcelo Brozović.

Roberto Gagliardini, Matías Vecino and Stefano Sensi are amongst the plethora of alternatives Conte can call upon; his favourite leftenant Arturo Vidal is injured though.

In attack, Alexis Sánchez will make way so Lautaro Martínez can rekindle his partnership with Romelu Lukaku.

They’ve scored 18 and 28 goals respectively this season.

Will Inter win the Derby d’Italia at Allianz Stadium?
