Everton vs West Ham United: Recommended bets

Both teams to score. West Ham have scored nine goals in their last two matches, while Everton have conceded at least one in each of their last three.

Over 2.5 goals. The last three matches between these two sides at Goodison Park have produced 10 goals.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin potentially getting a rest for Everton, West Ham’s Sebastien Haller looks to be the obvious goalscoring pick. Haller has scored five goals in five appearances this season, including four in this competition so far.

Everton vs West Ham United: Match preview

Everton host West Ham United at Goodison Park on Wednesday night in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

Everton made it five wins on the spin, and three out of three in the Premier League, with a 2-1 win at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored Everton’s opener for the third league game running. Palace equalised shortly after, before Richarlison scored a controversial winner from the penalty spot.

Meanwhile, West Ham produced one of the performances of the season so far as they trounced Wolves 4-0 at home. Jarrod Bowen bagged a brace, while Sebastien Haller scored West Ham’s fourth late on.

Everton eased into the fourth round after beating League One side Fleetwood 5-2 last week. Carlo Ancelotti fielded a surprisingly strong side. Richarlison (2), Alex Iwobi, Bernard and Moise Kean were all on the scoresheet.

Everton beat Salford City 3-0 in the second round before that.

West Ham’s route to the last 16 has been similarly straightforward. A 3-0 home win over Charlton Athletic was followed up by last week’s 5-1 win over League One side Hull at the London Stadium.

Robert Snodgrass, Sebastien Haller (2), and Andriy Yarmolenko (2) all scored for the Hammers.

Their most recent meeting ended in a 1-1 draw at the London Stadium in January. Issa Diop and Dominic Calvert-Lewin were on the scoresheet before half-time.

West Ham have made it to the quarter-finals of the competition in two of the last four seasons, and reached the last four in 2013.

Everton reached the quarter-finals last season, where they were knocked out by Leicester.

Everton team news vs West Ham United

Ancelotti is expected to give in-form striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin a complete rest, so Moise Kean may start up front. Anthony Gordon is another attacking option.

Fringe players like Niels Nkounkou and Jonjo Kenny could be handed a run-out, while Fabian Delph will provide experience in midfield.

Backup goalkeeper Jonas Lossl has a back injury, so Jordan Pickford should keep his place in goal – despite being at fault for both goals in the previous round.

Jarrad Branthwaite remains sidelined, along with long-term absentees Mason Holgate, Cenk Tosun, and Jean-Philippe Gbamin.

West Ham United team news vs Everton

David Moyes is likely to field a similar side that started in the previous round, so expect to see the likes of Sebastien Haller, Felipe Anderson, Manuel Lanzini, and Andriy Yarmolenko in the starting eleven.

Mark Noble came on as a late substitute at the weekend and could be involved in order to regain match fitness.

Issa Diop and Josh Cullen are both fitness doubts. The pair have been isolating after testing positive for COVID-19 and may not be match fit.

Ryan Fredericks will definitely miss out after coming off with a groin injury against Wolves.

Youngsters such as Mbule Emmanuel and Conor Coventry will be eyeing spots on the bench.
