Aggregate: CSKA Moscow 1-4 Arsenal

Arsenal travel to Moscow on Thursday night for the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie against CSKA Moscow.

Aaron Ramsey gave Arsenal the lead last Thursday before a screamer from Aleksandr Golovin levelled things up. A brace from Alexandre Lacazette and another from Ramsey had Arsenal 4-1 up 10 minutes before the break, and that was to be the final score.

Thursday’s game will be the first time in six matches that Arsenal are playing away from home. The Gunners have won their last six matches in all competitions, scoring at least three goals in each of their last five.

Arsenal’s solid form continued on the weekend with a 3-2 win over Southampton. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Danny Welbeck (2) scored for Arsene Wenger’s side, who still remain 13 points off of a place in the top four.

Arsenal finished the match with 10 men, with Mohamed Elneny receiving a very late red card, that has since been rescinded.

CSKA Moscow followed up defeat in the first leg with another loss on Monday evening. Viktor Goncharenko’s side lost 2-1 at home to city rivals Dinamo Moscow, a result which leaves CSKA 3rd in the Russian Premier League. Fedor Chalov scored the goal for CSKA.

The draw for the Europa League semi-finals takes place on Friday afternoon.
