Betting prediction: Crawley Town 1 – 4 Leeds United
The Reds welcome Leeds to Broadfield Stadium in Crawley on Sunday for this FA Cup match. This will be the first competitive match between these two clubs in the history of English football.
As a League Two side, Crawley entered the FA Cup in the First Round this season. They defeated Torquay 5-6 after extra time in a thrilling match. Then eliminated AFC Wimbledon 1-2 in the Second Round to get here.
The two top tiers of the Football League enter the FA Cup in the 3rd Round. As a result, this will be Leeds’ first match in the competition this season.
Crawley Town vs Leeds United: Recommended bets
Given that over 60 league positions separate Crawley and Leeds, it is no surprise to see the home side start the match as 8/1 underdogs.
Leeds’ exit from the Carabao Cup at the hands of League One’s Hull City was one of the shocks of the domestic cup competitions this season. Despite this, they start this match as massive favourites to avoid another shock, with odds of 1/3 on to win.
No Premier League side has fewer draws this season than Leeds United’s 2. Odds of 17/4 are available if you see Crawley and Leeds cancelling each other out over 90 minutes on Sunday, forcing extra time.

Crawley Town vs Leeds United: What are the betting odds?
101 Great Goals’ prediction of Crawley 1 – 4 Leeds is available at odds of 18/1.
Crawley’s last match against Premier League opposition was a 1-0 win over Norwich City in the Carabao Cup last season. A repeat of this score on Sunday is available at odds of 20/1.
Leeds last faced League Two opposition last season in the first round of the Carabao Cup. A strong Leeds XI eased past their lower-league opponents 0-3. You can back them at 15/2 for the same scoreline here on Sunday.
Leeds matches average over 3.7 goals per game in the Premier League this season; more than any other top-flight club. While only Exeter have scored more goals than Crawley in League Two. This all points to a high-scoring game and you can back over 2.5 goals in this match at 13/20 on.
Crawley are 20/1 to win this match via a penalty shootout. While Leeds are 18/1 to scrape into the Fourth Round by winning the ‘lottery’ of penalties.

Crawley Town vs Leeds United: Match preview
The condensed season due to COVID-19 means this season’s FA Cup will have no replays; the winner of each match will be determined on the day.
Therefore, if the scores are level after 90 minutes here on Sunday, extra time and penalties will be used to determine who advances to the fourth round.
This will also be the first-time concussion subs are allowed in the competition. Clubs are permitted to use an additional two substitutions if a player suffers a concussion (or potential concussion). In the event a club makes a concussion substitution, their opponent will also be allowed to make an extra substitution over the usual maximum limit of 3.
There is a lot of concern that all these rule changes favour the ‘bigger’ sides. Even beyond the massive loss in revenue, lower league sides will face due to a lack of replays. Being able to now name a substitutes bench of 9 players allows top sides to rest their star players from the start and name most of them on the bench.
Bielsa named a much-weakened Leeds side for their only previous cup game this season. However, at nearly the mid-point of the season with Leeds closer to leading the table than the drop-zone, he could opt to field a strong XI here as the FA Cup offers another route to European football for this ambitious club.
For Crawley, this match could be an unwanted distraction. They are currently the form-side in League Two. Their 8-match unbeaten run makes them the only club undefeated over the last 6 matches in the division.
This has propelled them into the play-off places and are now just 1 win behind automatic promotion in 3rd place. Victory over Leeds is unlikely but would net them some welcomed TV and prize money from the 4th Round. However, a humiliating defeat could take the momentum out of their push for promotion from League Two.

Crawley Town team news vs Leeds United
The Reds’ top scorer Max Watters hasn’t been involved in either of their last two matchday squads. He was complaining of a tight hamstring over the Christmas period.
“Max has a bit of a tight hamstring. We need to protect him. What we don’t want is Max picking up a long-term injury.”
– Lee Bradbury, Crawley Town Assistant Manager
Right-midfielder Tarryn Allarakhia has also missed out on their last two matches due to a suspension. This match will be the final of his 3 match suspension for a straight red card against Newport County during the Christmas period.
Left-back Josh Doherty hasn’t featured for the club since the end of December due to a hamstring problem. He is back in training but it is unlikely he will be thrown straight back into the starting XI.

Leeds United team news vs Crawley Town
Jay-Roy Grot, Adam Forshaw and Gaetano Berardi are yet to feature for Leeds this season and remain on the long-term injury list.
Robin Koch is one month into a three-month rehab after surgery on his knee. He is expected back mid-March at the earliest for the Leeds.
Tyler Roberts wasn’t in the last matchday squad for Leeds due to injury. The club haven’t stated the cause of his absence, nor an expected timeframe for his return. He isn’t expected to play any part in Sunday’s match.
Liam Cooper has missed Leeds’ last 3 games due to an abdominal injury. While he is nearing a return to action, it is unlikely Bielsa risks him here.
Rodrigo and Ezgjan Alioski were the only players from Bielsa’s first XI who started the Carabao Cup defeat against Hull City at the start of the season. Does this suggests Bielsa is likely to field an XI almost entirely made up of fringe players as he maintains focus on the Premier League?
