Bosnia-Herzegovina vs Northern Ireland betting tips: UEFA Nations League match preview & predictions

Bosnia-Herzegovina vs Northern Ireland prediction: Bosnia-Herzegovina 2-0 Northern Ireland

Somehow, Northern Ireland are pointless after two Nations League matches.

They paid the price for missed chances in the reverse fixture on matchday 1.

Bosnia are sitting pretty at the top of the group, and a win here, would all but secure promotion.

Who will come out on top?

Bosnia-Herzegovina vs Northern Ireland: Who will win?

Bosnia are big favourites at 8/13 to claim another win.

Northern Ireland’s last competitive win came in September of last year; they’re 11/2 to end that run.

A draw is 5/2.

Under 2.5 goals is 4/7 and both teams to score no is the same price.

Edin Džeko has scored 53 goals in 96 appearances for his country. The Roma man is 5/2 to score first and 5/6 to net anytime.

Bosnia-Herzegovina vs Northern Ireland: Match preview

Two games. Two wins. Top of the group.

Bosnia’s UEFA Nations League campaign has been perfect so far.

It all began with a trip to Belfast last month.

Haris Duljević and then Elvis Sarić scored either side of half time in a smash and grab 2-1 victory.

They then hosted Austria three days later at Stadion Bilino Polje.

It looked to be petering out to a 0-0 draw, but Edin Džeko smashed home the winner with just ten minutes remaining.

Robert Prosinečki’s side warmed up for this one with a 0-0 draw in Turkey but will be very confident of making it three wins out of three.

On the flip side, Northern Ireland’s campaign just hasn’t got going yet.

That defeat to Bosnia was a real kick in the teeth as they had 21 more shots and 17 more corners than their opponents.

They did beat Israel 3-0 in a friendly but cannot transfer that form into the Nations League.

They again missed loads of chances on Friday, losing 1-0 in Austria to leave them bottom of the group.

Their home clash with Austria next month will be crucial to their chances of survival but they can really help their cause with even a point in Sarajevo.

Robert Prosinečki has proven during his short tenure, he isn’t afraid to make big decisions.

Bournemouth’s number 1 Asmir Begović was left out of the squad all together last month.

He is back in this time but Ibrahim Šehić of Turkish side Erzurumspor is set to retain his place.

They have injury concerns at the back.

Arsenal’s Sead Kolašinac and Hoffenheim’s Ermin Bičakčić both would’ve started this game but for injury.

That means that Eldar Ćivić will win just his fourth cap and Bojan Nastić just his third.

Middlesborough’s Muhamed Bešić had a torrid time at right-back in Belfast so will be looking forward to a return to his favoured midfield role.

Juventus’ Miralem Pjanić and Edin Višća of Süper Lig high-fliers İstanbul Başakşehir are the creative sparks of this side.

Although, they know all about the threat of Haris Duljević, who scored the opening goal at Windsor Park.

But of course, the main man is Edin Džeko.

He scored a hat-trick in the Champions League a fortnight ago and has 53 international goals to his name.

This side should have enough to see of Northern Ireland.

For the visitors, Bailey Peacock-Farrell appears to be the number 1 goalkeeper now.

He kept 5 clean sheets for Leeds United in the Championship so far this season.

Paddy McNair struggled at right-back on Friday night so Conor McLaughlin may well return to the side.

Jamal Lewis continues to impress on the other side.

No change expected to a strong looking midfield trio.

Steven Davis will move on to 105 caps, 14 behind record holder Pat Jennings.

They do have problems in attacking areas though.

Kyle Lafferty’s withdrawal from the squad has been made worse by Will Grigg’s injury on Friday night.

Josh Magennis will once again start up front.

Can they hold out for anything in Bosnia?
