Faroe Islands vs Lithuania betting tips: UEFA Nations League preview, predictions and odds

Lithuania have won seven of their last eight meetings with Faroe Islands, including a friendly victory in Vilnius in November 2020. However, against sides currently in League C or D, the Faroes have only lost two of their last 12 home games.

Under 2.5 goals is 8/15.

Under 2.5 goals and both teams to score NO is 10/11.

Faroe Islands to win and both teams to score NO is 13/5.

Klæmint Olsen has scored ten international goals, four of which have come in the UEFA Nations League. He is 11/2 to break the deadlock and 5/1 to add to his tally.

Match preview

Group C1's bottom two go head-to-head in Tórshavn, both seeking their first points of this Nations League season.

Faroe Islands memorable won promotion from League D two years ago, but are finding life in the third-tier a little more challenging.

Last weekend, Håkan Ericson's side were simply outclassed, going down 4-0 at Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadyumu against Türkiye.

Then, in a much more even game on Tuesday night, the Faroes look like holding Luxembourg to a goalless draw.

However, the game swung when René Joensen was sent off mid-way through the second half, with the visitors converting a penalty minutes later.

The hosts actually ended that game with nine-men, Sølvi Vatnhamar also dismissed late on, as Luxembourg won 1-0.

Despite this, it's Lithuania who currently sit bottom of this group due to their vastly inferior goal difference, even at this early stage.

So far, Valdas Ivanauskas' side have lost a pair of home games, going down 2-0 to Luxembourg and then 6-0 against Türkiye.

The latter was the just the second time Lithuania have conceded 6+ in a home game, the other coming in October 2000 against Hungary.

Overall, they've now lost ten of 14 Nations League matches, all at League C level, with their only wins coming in Albania and Kazakhstan.

So, what's abundantly clear, two teams will be going for promotion in this group, while these two are battling against the relegation play-out place.

Given this scenario, three points for either would be priceless at Tórsvøllur.

Faroe Islands team news

René Joensen and Sølvi Vatnhamar are both suspended following their red cards on Tuesday.

This could see Sonni Nattestad and Ári Mohr Jónsson come in at right-back and defensive midfield respectively.

Klæmint Olsen will lead the line, looking to add to his ten international goals.

35 year old goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen was restored in midweek, winning his 66th cap, coming back in for Teitur Gestsson.

Lithuania team news

Arvydas Novikovas and Fedor Černych will continue to be Lithuania's main goal threats, having scored 12 and 11 for their countries respectively.

The latter bagged a brace in his team's last win, coming over Bulgaria in October.

Saulius Mikoliūnas will be hoping to feature in the defence, looking to add to his 97 caps.
