Birmingham vs Wolves match preview

Wolves travel to relegation contenders Birmingham City for a huge clash at both ends of the Championship table.

Wolves currently are top of the pile with a game to spare and could extend their lead to four points over nearest challengers Cardiff City with a win at St Andrew’s tonight.

Birmingham, on the other hand, are not enjoying the best of seasons.

Can Wolves extend their lead at the top?

Birmingham have scored just 10 goals this season in their 19 matches thus far, a quarter of Wolves’ total this term.

Despite sitting 22nd in the table (just two points off bottom), Birmingham fans can rejoice at the return of on-loan Arsenal full back, Carl Jenkinson. Who this week has returned to full training for the first time since dislocating his shoulder in August.

Wolves will also be without star man Ruben Neves who picked up his 5th yellow card of the season in last Saturday’s 5-1 resounding win against Bolton.

The Birmingham & Wolves danger men

Leo Bonatini will be the man to mark for Birmingham.

The Brazilian forward has 11 goals to his name this season (more than the whole Birmingham team).

Diogo Jota and Ivan Cavaliero will almost certainly play big roles in this Midland derby.

As for Birmingham, Che Adams is often a goalscoring threat but fans will be expecting to see Jota reproduce some of his form from last season at Brentford.

The Spanish winger signed for the club in the summer but is yet to register a single goal or assist for the Blues.

Surely there is no better time to get off the mark?

Birmingham vs Wolves prediction

Wolves have been fantastic this season and come into this match off the back of five straight wins.

Birmingham have definitely not improved since sacking Harry Redknapp back in September and for those two reasons, we think Wolves will win comfortably, 3-0.
