Gameweek 28: Well played Big Rom!
In the end, 8 players was enough for us to bag 40 points, which was well above the average of 19.
Some big teams dropped major points unless they had Bournemouth’s Josh King.
We were indebted to Romelu Lukaku for his 24 points as captain and Gylfi Sigurdsson chipped in with an assist for Swansea at Hull.
The rest of our side was pretty slim pickings and we did not benefit at all from Philippe Coutinho who was our second transfer last week but totally failed to turn up for Liverpool.
Navigating last gameweek somewhat successfully, although we could undoubtedly have done better, leaves us in 37,782 overall in FPL.

The 101 Great Goals league
Dalkeith Divided remains the team making all the running at the top of the 101 Great Goals league.
However the decision to captain Sadio Mane has cost our man from Australia and he will be looking over his shoulder in the coming gameweek we suspect.

Gameweek 29: So many possibilities
The last two gameweeks have been somewhat extraordinary. Gameweek 27 was dominated by the fact Manchester City played twice. And, Gameweek 28 featured just four matches.
This week the Premier League returns with a full 10-game fixture list and there could well be some crucial season defining results, the way the fixtures are lined up.
From an FPL perspective, it is clear that we don’t want to make too many risks with an international break on the horizon.
Here is our thinking ahead of Gameweek 29:
The fact we have Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho, who failed to perform, means our midfield looks rather uneven with two Liverpool assets.
All the tweaking of late leaves us without Alexis Sanchez – the best points scorer this season on 187 points – well ahead of Romelu Lukaku in second on 166.
Our side also looks too short of Chelsea players considering how they are cantering to the Premier League title.
We chewed over the following options:
- Sadio Mane to Alexis Sanchez.
- Philippe Coutinho (or Sadio Mane) to Eden Hazard.
- Sergio Aguero to Diego costa and Philippe Coutinho to Alexis Sanchez
We took option two, which leaves us with Chelsea cover for a game the Blues may go nuts in, at Stoke on Saturday.
Sergio Aguero or Romelu Lukaku with the armband?
The captaincy choice seems a straight battle between Aguero (home to Liverpool) and Lukaku (home v Hull).
Big Rom may be in a contract stand off with Everton, but the Belgian striker has done well for us – see last week for example and we were burnt by not captaining him for his 4-goal Bournemouth haul.
Looking short term & long term
Looking ahead, we plan to bring in Manolo Gabbiadini for Fernando Llorente next week. The Southampton striker is in form and has great plus double fixtures coming up.
From an even longer term view we know that Gameweek 37 will be HUGE! So we plan to bench boost then.
Double Gameweek preparations!
Manchester United, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal will likely have double gameweeks in Gameweek 34 as well.
As a result, we will likely wildcard in a couple of gameweeks, once we know the lay of the land after the international break. Including players from the teams above, as well as Crystal Palace, Middlesbrough, Man City and Southampton.
This might be a little risky doing it just before the double gameweek but it will give us more of a chance to pick up extra points beforehand.
The deadline is at 11:30 Saturday morning ahead of the early Premier League game: West Brom v Arsenal.
Good luck everyone!
