Chelsea & Liverpool stars included in Euro 2020’s worst statistical Team of the Tournament

The ‘worst performing team’ of Euro 2020, based purely on statistical performances, has this weekend been revealed.

London showcase

The latest edition of the European Championships is set to come to a head on Sunday night.

After navigating their respective paths through the tournament in style, Italy and England will face off at Wembley, for the right to call themselves the continent’s finest international outfit.

The former are currently viewed as favourites in the eyes of most, having stood as the standout performers of the summer thus far.

After waltzing through the group stage with a perfect three wins from three, before ousting heavyweights Belgium and Spain en route to this weekend’s showpiece, the Azzurri, remarkably, made it 33 straight outings without defeat across all competitions.

England, though, will prove no pushovers for Roberto Mancini’s rampant outfit.

The Three Lions, like their upcoming opponents, have remained unbeaten to date, with a group stage stalemate with Scotland the only blotch on an otherwise flawless tournament CV.

Rudiger & Ramsey included

Amid their respective runs to the finale, there have of course been a whole host of standout individual performers on the part of Italy and England alike, with the likes of Leonardo Spinazzola, Jorginho, Luke Shaw and Raheem Sterling having proven particularly impressive.

Such stars, in turn, will be expected to feature in the eventual Team of the Tournament, set to be unveiled on the back of tomorrow’s finale.

On the flip-side of things, though, which players, to this point, have proven the most underwhelming of Euro 2020, based not just on the eye test, but performance metrics?

This subject, as outlined above, has this weekend been delved into, on the part of the reliable WhoScored.

And the results may come as something of a surprise.

WhoScored’s system, which make use of a series of statistics and performance-based metrics to decide on eventual player ratings, sees a number of high-profile stars from across the continent included in the ‘worst rated XI’ of the tournament.

Amongst those named are Antonio Rudiger, Diogo Jota and Aaron Ramsey, with the line-up, in full, showcased below:
