Betting prediction: Swansea 1-0 Derby

Derby County have lost five on the spin heading into Saturday’s game. Wayne Rooney’s side are one place above the relegation zone with two matches remaining.

Derby will feel that they have a chance to take something, given that Swansea have failed to win any of their last four matches at the Liberty.

While the Rams are fighting for survival, there’s not too much riding on this game for Swansea. Despite failing to win any of their last three games – home or away – the Welsh side have already qualified for the playoffs.

Under 2.5 goals. Three of the last four matches at the Liberty have ended in 0-1 scorelines.

Swansea vs Derby: Match preview

Swansea’s final home match of the Championship season sees them host relegation-threatened Derby County at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday – of course, the Swans will still have the playoffs to come in a couple of weeks’ time.

Swansea came from behind to draw 2-2 at Reading last weekend. Second-half goals from Jamal Lowe and Andre Ayew put Swansea back in front but they conceded a late equaliser.

Sunday’s draw leaves Swansea 5th in the table, level on 77 points with Bournemouth and Barnsley, and four behind Brentford. Swansea are eight points clear of Reading, meaning they are assured of top six finish and a place in the play-offs.

Swansea’s home form ranks 7th in the Championship, having won exactly have of their 22 matches at the Liberty Stadium and drawn a further six. Although they have found goals hard to come by at home, only two teams have conceded fewer goals at home than the Swans (15).

Steve Cooper’s side have lost three and drawn one of their last four home games, the most recent of which was a 1-0 defeat to Queens Park Rangers.

Derby’s losing streak extended to its fifth match on Saturday as they were beaten 2-1 at home to Birmingham City. Colin Kazim-Richards gave Derby a first-half lead before Birmingham scored two in the second half.

Their latest defeat leaves Derby hovering narrowly above the relegation zone. They are currently four points above Rotherham in the relegation zone, although Rotherham have a game in hand.

Derby’s away form ranks 20th in the league. Wayne Rooney’s side have only won five of their 22 away matches, drawing a further four. No team has scored fewer goals away from home than Derby (15).

Derby have lost four on the spin away from home, and have failed to win any of their last eight on the road.

Derby won the reverse fixture 2-0 at Pride Park in December. Colin Kazim-Richards and Kamil Jozwiak scored for the hosts. Swansea have failed to win any of their last seven matches against Derby.

Derby’s final match of the season – and potential their final match before being relegated – is at home to Sheffield Wednesday next Saturday. Swansea’s last match of the league season before starting the playoffs is away to Watford, who have already achieved promotion.

Swansea team news vs Derby

Andre Ayew should be recalled to the starting eleven following his brace off the bench against Reading. Right-back Connor Roberts could also come back into the side in place of Kyle Naughton.

Paul Arriola, Jordan Morris, and Steven-Andreas Benda are sidelined for the Swans.

Morgan Whittaker is in contention to face his former club. The 20-year-old made 32 appearances for the Rams before signing for Swansea in February.

Whittaker is one of three former Derby players in the squad, the other two being Kieron Freeman and Ben Hamer.

Derby team news vs Swansea

Wayne Rooney could be without six first-team players. Max Bird could start for the Rams, which would shift Jason Knight and Tom Lawrence further forward.

Curtis Davies, Andre Wisdom, Teden Mengi, Krystian Bielik, Lee Gregory, and Jordon Ibe are all sidelined for the visitors.
