Swansea vs Cardiff: Match preview
The 112th South Wales Derby takes place on Saturday as Swansea host rivals Cardiff City at the Liberty Stadium.
Swansea’s four-match unbeaten run came to an end on Tuesday as they were beaten 3-0 at Bournemouth. Their midweek defeat leaves the Swans on 69 points in 3rd place, three behind the automatic promotion spot, although they do have a game in hand over 2nd-placed Watford.
Swansea have the third-best home record in the Championship. The Swans have won 11 and drawn five of their 18 matches at home this season, scoring 23 and conceding 10 goals. Swansea’s last home game ended in a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough, with Andre Ayew scoring both goals.
Cardiff were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Stoke in midweek. Tuesday’s draw leaves Mick McCarthy’s side 9th in the table on 55 points, six behind Reading in 6th. Cardiff have only won one of their last five matches.
Cardiff have the fourth-best away record in the league. The Bluebirds have won eight and drawn six of their 18 matches on the road. Cardiff are unbeaten in their last seven away matches, although the last two have ended in draws.
Cardiff have only lost one of their last 13 matches, while Swnasea have only lost one of their last 15 at the Liberty Stadium.
