Rotherham United vs Preston North End match preview

Two sides in the midst of altogether contrasting spells of form are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at the New York Stadium this Saturday, September 23rd.

The matchup in question will see Rotherham United act as hosts, in a meeting with Preston North End.

Beginning with the latter, Preston, of course, have proven themselves the surprise package of the early weeks of the campaign in England’s 2nd tier.

The Lilywhites are currently sitting pretty atop the table, owing to a remarkable record of six wins and one draw from seven.

This includes a six-game win streak, the most recent of which came in midweek.

After welcoming Birmingham City to Deepdale, Ryan Lowe’s troops ultimately emerged on the right side of a 2-1 result.

Safe to say, then, that Saturday’s visitors will head into proceedings in south Yorkshire with spirits high in the camp.

On the flip side, though, upcoming opponents Rotherham United will likely be feeling quite the opposite at present.

The Millers have endured a campaign to forget to date, looking like early contenders for the drop.

This comes owing to a record of one win, one draw, and five defeats across their seven Championship outings thus far.

Since looking as though they had at least steadied the ship courtesy of a 2-1 downing of Norwich City at the beginning of the month, Matt Taylor’s men have fallen to back-to-back losses at the hands of Huddersfield Town, and Millwall.

Not only that, but they have shipped five goals in the process, without finding the net themselves even once.

And we at 101 do not envision things getting all that much better for Rotherham later today, backing visitors Preston, when all is said and done, to emerge on the right side of the result at the New York Stadium.
