Reading are desperate for points right now following a 0-0 draw against Luton during the week and this is a must-win game for the Royals if they’re to keep their promotion dreams alive.

At the Madejski is where Veljko Paunovic’s side do their best work and despite Swansea arriving here in decent form, we’re expecting the home side to edge this one… just.

Both sides have struggled to keep it tight at the back in recent weeks so we’re happy to have a stab at Reading winning this one 2-1.

Reading vs Swansea City: What are the odds?

o Home win – 5/4

Reading are unbeaten in their last five at the Madejski and they look a solid bet to notch up another three points against a Swansea side that flatters to deceive and who could already have one eye on the play-offs.

o Away win – 9/4

Swansea have been in solid form on the road recently, losing just two of their last seven.

However, they struggled in attack without injured captain Andre Ayew in their 1-0 loss at QPR on Tuesday night and, with Ayew set to be missing again, it could be another tough 90 minutes for the Swans.

o Draw – 23/10

Reading have only drawn twice in 21 home matches so far and with it all on the line on Sunday, we’d be happy to swerve the draw on this occasion as the Royals hunt down all three points.

Reading vs Swansea City: Odds Manager’s Extra Odds Picks

o Yakou Méïté to score first

Méïté has chipped in with 10 goals already this season for Reading – including four in his last eight – and he looks solid value to open the scoring on Sunday.

He helped salvage a point last week against Cardiff with a late equaliser and Royals fans will be hoping the Ivory Coast centre-forward can do the damage once more against Welsh opposition.

o Reading to win and both teams to score

Reading may be unbeaten in their last five at home but they have also been shipping goals – conceding in their last three at the Madejski.

We expect them to see off Swansea but with the Swans scoring five goals in their last two away games, we can see the visitors getting on the score sheet also.

A home win but with both sides bagging at least one goal is the play here.

Reading vs Swansea City: Match preview

In reality, Reading need to win their last three matches of the season if they’re to have any chance of snatching a play-off spot, and they need to start that run on Sunday against 4th placed Swansea.

The Swans can count themselves fortunate to be in a play-off position given their recent performances, putting in several mediocre showings of late.

When it’s time for the play-offs though they won’t care about what’s come before but it does give an idea of how good the Swans actually are.

Reading have talented attacking options with the likes of Michael Olise and Yakou Méïté, while Swansea have struggled to create scoring opportunities for a club so high up the league table.

Despite failing to rack up the points, Reading have played well in recent weeks and their results haven’t been a true reflection of their performances.

The chips are well and truly down now though for the Royals and we think that although they might ultimately fail to lock in a play-off spot, they should have enough in their locker to at least take three points from the Swans.

Reading team news vs Swansea City

Reading could once more be without Lucas Joao who missed the goalless draw against Luton after dislocating his shoulder in the 1-1 draw with Cardiff.

With Joao likely to be sidelined, George Pușcaș will replace him upfront against Swansea and the Romanian will be gunning to add to his tally of four goals this season.

Veljko Paunovic will be hoping that playmaker John Swift will also feature as he continues his comeback from injury.

Swansea City team news vs Reading

Swansea boss Steve Cooper expects striker Andre Ayew to miss Sunday’s game with the Ghana international still recovering from a hamstring injury.

Cooper will look to Wayne Routledge to lead the line once more, after the striker went close against QPR and hit the post.
