Match preview

Two sides desperate for a return to winning ways, for altogether contrasting reasons, are set to face off in a Championship clash at Loftus Road on Tuesday, November 8th.

The matchup in question will see a Queens Park Rangers outfit in the thick of the promotion playoff battle play host to basement boys Huddersfield Town.

Beginning with the former, after so recently positioning themselves front and centre in the battle for an automatic promotion spot, QPR, over the last couple of weeks, have fallen off the pace in alarming fashion.

All told, the club’s last three fixtures have given rise to just a solitary point secured from an available nine.

The Hoops’ most recent outing, this past weekend, proved of particular concern.

This came as a home meeting with a West Bromwich Albion side with just three wins to their name all season ultimately culminated in the Baggies departing Loftus Road with all three points, courtesy of Kyle Bartley’s winner midway through the 2nd-half.

QPR, as a result, have slipped to 5th in the table, in the knowledge that a third defeat in four next time out could see them ousted from the playoff positions entirely.

Safe to say, then, that Michael Beale’s troops will be desperate to clinch a return to winning ways on Tuesday night.

And, in truth, they’ll likely fancy their chances of as much, up against a Huddersfield outfit in the midst of nothing short of a nightmare campaign.

After missing out on a return to the top-flight at the final hurdle in the playoff finale last time out, Huddersfield have since failed to rebuild in any way, shape or form.

The Terriers, all told, have been condemned to defeat in 11 of their 18 outings thus far, the latest of which came this past Saturday.

A trip to Ewood Park to take on high-flying Blackburn Rovers saw Ben Brereton Diaz’s finish prove decisive en route to a 1-0 final scoreline.

Huddersfield, as a result, remain glued to the foot of the Championship table, a full six points from safety as things stand.

In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear that we at 101 are backing hosts Queens Park Rangers to ultimately emerge triumphant come the final whistle at Loftus Road on Tuesday night.
