Match preview

If you’re a fan of goals, perhaps Preston North End are not the team for you.

So far, astonishingly, the Lilywhites’ seven Championship games have featured just two, yes two, goals.

Ryan Lowe’s team have endured five goalless draws and a pair of 1-0 wins; making the most of their limited goals.

This includes Wednesday night’s victory over Coventry; Emil Riis Jakobsen the only scorer at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Preston’s other win came at Luton, meaning the Deepdale faithful are yet to witness any goals in three fixtures this season.

New month brings now opportunity so, in the first fixture of September, will that change?

Birmingham City meantime make the journey up to Lancashire in terrible form.

The Blues were beaten 2-1 at St Andrew’s by Norwich on Tuesday, meaning they’ve now lost three on the bounce, taking just one point from the last 15 available.

Many feared John Eustace’s team could struggle this season and so it has transpired, so far at least.

Will Preston score at home, or concede anywhere, or both for the first time in the Championship this season?
