Match preview

Two sides in the midst of altogether contrasting spells of form are set to face off in a Championship clash at Carrow Road on Tuesday, October 18th.

The matchup in question will see a Norwich City outfit on a downward spiral play host to a Luton side climbing steadily up the table.

Beginning with the former, Norwich, after embarking on a stellar stretch of successive victories between mid-August and September, have found three-point hauls altogether more difficult to come by of late.

In fact, the Canaries have managed just a solitary win from their last five attempts, at Blackpool in the club’s return to action post-international break.

Their most recent fixture, this past weekend, saw Josh Sargent’s 8th of the term prove little more than a consolation, en route to an eventual 2-1 defeat at the hands of Watford.

Such woes, in turn, have seen Norwich slip to 3rd in England’s 2nd tier, in the knowledge that a further defeat on Tuesday night could see them head into the next round of fixtures as far down the standings as 7th.

And any potential return to winning ways on the part of Dean Smith’s men this week will not come easy.

This comes with their upcoming opponents, Luton, having enjoyed a considerably more fruitful couple of weeks.

The Hatters, all told, have not tasted defeat since early last month, amidst a run of three wins and two draws from their last five outings.

Nathan Jones’ troops were responsible for one of the results of the weekend last time out, too, in bringing an end to high-flying QPR’s win streak courtesy of a 3-1 triumph at Kenilworth Road.

Should they ultimately go on to make it two high-profile wins on the spin, then Luton, as a result, will draw level on points with their upcoming hosts.

Though Norwich, based on talent alone, remain favourites to bag all three points on Tuesday, the Hatters emerging with a share of the spoils should therefore not be ruled out by any means.

A tough one to call at Carrow Road.
