Match preview

Two sides locked on points in the Championship table are set to go head to head at The Den on Wednesday, October 19th.

The matchup in question will see 14th-placed Millwall play host to a Watford outfit sitting ahead of them only owing to goal difference.

Let’s first take a look at the recent endeavours of the latter.

Watford, of course, have stood as one of the disappointments of the season to date in England’s 2nd tier.

This comes with the Hornets, expected to establish themselves in the thick of the promotion battle, having instead managed wins in just five of their 14 fixtures to date.

To their credit, Wednesday’s visitors did manage to secure all three points last time out, owing to an impressive 2-1 downing of Norwich City.

Imran Louza and Keinan Davis bagged the goals on the day, guiding Slaven Bilic’s troops away from the relegation zone, and back within four points of the playoff spots.

Watford’s upcoming opponents, though, are too fresh off a win last time out.

Millwall have looked vastly improved of late, notching wins in three of their last five, to themselves move a full seven points clear of the bottom-three.

The latest of these victories came this past weekend, at the expense of Bristol City.

And top scorer Zian Flemming, once more, proved the star of the show. After opening the term in altogether hit-and-miss fashion, gifted attacking midfielder Flemming has exploded into life of late.

His 2nd-half winner at Ashton Gate made it four goals in three for the Dutchman, and five in five dating back to the middle of last month.

All associated with the Lions, in turn, will be hoping for more of the same on Wednesday night.

We at 101, though, are backing visitors Watford to ultimately emerge from The Den with a hard-fought share of the spoils.
