Match preview

Two sides eyeing a return to winning ways are set to go head-to-head in a Championship clash at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday, November 1st.

The clash in question will see Luton Town play host to a Reading outfit in the midst of a concerning stretch of form.

The Royals, just weeks ago, found themselves in the thick of the promotion hunt, flying high on the back of three wins from four either side of the international break.

Since October 4th, though, Paul Ince’s troops have seen their form fall firmly off the side of a cliff.

All told, they have managed just one win from six, whilst even more alarmingly slipping to defeat in four on the trot.

The latest of these losses came on Saturday, in altogether heartbreaking fashion.

Locked in a 1-1 stalemate deep into injury-time at table-topping Burnley, a last-minute strike on the part of Anass Zaroury saw Reading depart Turf Moor with nothing to show for a valiant effort.

The Royals, in turn, have slipped to the depths of mid-table in the Championship, three points adrift of the playoff spots.

Safe to say, then, that Tuesday’s hosts could do with a return to winning ways at Kenilworth Road.

Standing in their way, though, will be a Luton Town outfit who have not tasted defeat in a home fixture since all the way back on September 3rd.

The Hatters’ recent form has proven altogether hit-and-miss, with their last three outings having given rise to a win, loss and draw.

Last time out, an Elliot Embleton equaliser a little over ten minutes from time proved enough to secure a share of the spoils in a home meeting with Sunderland.

Nathan Jones’ men, as a result, have climbed level on points with their upcoming opponents, but clear in the table by means of a superior goal difference.

Though Luton may therefore fancy their chances of getting the better of Reading on Tuesday night, we at 101 are backing an eventual stalemate come the full-time whistle at Kenilworth Road.
