Betting prediction: Brentford 1 – Sheffield Wednesday 0

With both teams struggling for winning form, this could be a cagey affair and neither side will want to be on the receiving end of a defeat.

Having smashed in over 50 goals this season, Brentford have managed just one goal in their last three matches and this match might just be settled by the smallest of margins.

Brentford hold the edge in the attacking third over Wednesday and we’re taking a chance on them edging this one 1-0.

Brentford vs Sheffield Wednesday: What are the betting odds?

o Home win – 4/7 at Betfred

Despite their current poor run, Brentford still have some rock-solid home form, losing only twice at the Brentford Community Stadium so far this season.

Having hit the skids, the Bees will be going all out for a victory on Wednesday and they have enough class to edge this one.

o Away win – 6/1 at Unibet

Wednesday have been blowing hot and cold in recent weeks and they’re still in relegation trouble as we head towards the business end of the season.

Can they pull an away win out the bag against Brentford? It’s doubtful.

o Draw – 3/1 at BetVictor

Having lost three on the bounce, Thomas Frank will be demanding a response from his Brentford side as they look to get their promotion charge back on track.

It’s been win or bust for the Bees recently, with just the one draw since before Christmas and at the odds, we’d be happy to lay the draw.

Brentford vs Sheffield Wednesday: Odds Manager’s Extra Odds Picks

o Ivan Toney to score first – 13/5 at Unibet

Bees fans will be hoping that Toney can blast their side to victory over Wednesday and we’re siding with him to grab the first goal.

He missed the loss against Coventry due to an ankle knock but he’s banged in 24 goals in just 30 matches including eight in his last six appearances.

He scored twice against Wednesday in the reverse fixture and will be itching to get at their backline once more.

o Under 2.5 match goals – 10/11 at bet365

Brentford may be the top scorers in the league but they’ve found goals hard to come by in recent weeks, scoring just once in their last three.

Sheffield Wednesday have only scored 21 all season so goals could be at a premium on Wednesday evening. In a match neither will want to lose, we’re siding with under 2.5 goals.

Brentford vs Sheffield Wednesday: Match preview

Having seemingly been cruising towards promotion success on the back of a 22 match unbeaten run, the last fortnight has turned into a car crash for Brentford fans with their side losing three on the bounce.

The good news for Bees fans though, is they’re still in an automatic promotion spot… just.

The bad news is that Watford and Swansea are in hot pursuit with the Hornets level on goal difference, while the Swans are one point behind but with two matches in hand.

These three look set to battle it out for the second automatic promotion spot with Norwich currently steaming ahead in top spot with 64 points.

Three losses on the bounce is a tough one to take and Thomas Frank will be drilling into his side that the rot has to stop against Sheffield Wednesday.

But Wednesday are also on the hunt for points as they look to drag themselves out of the relegation zone at the foot of the Championship.

They’re the lowest scoring side in the league right now and Brentford will be hoping that they can record a clean-sheet on their way to victory.

It might not be pretty on Wednesday evening but you can be sure it’ll be competitive and it’s a match you won’t want to miss.

Brentford team news vs Sheffield Wednesday

Ivan Toney missed Saturday’s loss to Coventry with an ankle knock but he should be fit to return against Wednesday.

Pontus Jansson (ankle) and Shandon Baptiste (knee) are still sidelined and Thomas Frank could tinker with his centre-back pairing following three losses.

Ethan Pinnock could line up with Winston Reid as the Bees look to keep a clean sheet for the first time in 10 games.

Sheffield Wednesday team news vs Brentford

There are injury and suspension worries for Wednesday boss Neil Thompson as he looks to pick a side that’s capable of bagging three points.

Andre Green and Massimo Luongo are both set to miss the trip south alongside long-term absentees Moses Odubajo and Joost van Aken.

Wednesday will also be without Liam Shaw following his red card in the weekend’s 1-0 loss to Birmingham.
