Match preview

Two sides in the thick of the battle against the drop are primed to do battle in a Championship showdown at Bloomfield Road on Wednesday, October 19th.

The clash in question will see Blackpool play host to struggling Hull City.

Let’s first take a look at the recent efforts of the former.

Blackpool have looked much improved over the course of the last couple of weeks. After slipping to defeat in half of their first twelve outings of the campaign, the Seasiders have since managed to get things back on track in impressive fashion.

After securing a commendable share of the spoils at Sunderland, Michael Appleton’s men followed up with a hard-fought 3-1 downing of Watford, a first three-point haul since early September.

It was their endeavours this past weekend, though, which truly caught the eye.

Amid a remarkable six-goal thriller at Bramall Lane, Blackpool were only denied all three points against then-table-topping Sheffield United by an Oliver Norwood equaliser with a full 98 minutes on the clock.

Wednesday’s hosts, in turn, have climbed to 19th in the table, three point clear of the relegation zone.

Upcoming opponents Hull, on the other hand, have been sucked right back into the thick of the battle against the drop.

This comes with the Tigers, remarkably, having slipped to defeat in seven of their last eight.

The latest of these came this past weekend, when goals on the part of Troy Deeney and Juninho Bacuna guided Birmingham to a 2-0 triumph at the MKM Stadium.

Should results go against them, Andy Dawson’s men, as a result, could find themselves amongst the bottom-three heading into the weekend’s fixture list.

We at 101, in turn, are backing Blackpool to ultimately emerge triumphant come the full-time whistle at the MKM Stadium on Wednesday night.
