Blackburn Rovers vs Swansea City: Match preview
Blackburn Rovers welcome Swansea City to Ewood Park on Tuesday night.
Blackburn ended in a seven-match winless run on Saturday as they beat Millwall 2-0 at the Den. Bradley Dack and Sam Gallagher netted for Tony Mowbray’s side.
Blackburn find themselves 15th in the table on 43 points. Realistically, Blackburn will be targeting a top-half finish this season.
Blackburn’s record at home ranks 14th in the Championship, with six wins and five draws from 16 matches at Ewood Park. Blackburn have failed to win any of their previous three home matches, although they did pick up a point in their most recent game at Ewood Park against Coventry.
Swansea made it back-to-back wins following their late and controversial 2-1 home win over Middlesbrough on Saturday.
Andre Ayew opened the scoring in the first half but Middlesbrough looked to have snatched a draw when Sam Morsy equalised in the 91st minute. The drama wasn’t finished, however, as Swansea were awarded a controversial penalty that Ayew converted in the 97th minute to win the match.
Saturday’s win leaves Swansea 3rd in the table on 65 points, one behind Watford in the automatic promotion spot. Crucially, Swansea have two matches in hand over the sides above them. With 13 matches left to play, the Welsh side look nailed on to finish in the play-off spots at the very least.
Only Norwich have picked up more points per game away from home than Swansea this season. The Swans also have the second-best defensive record on the road, conceding just 17 goals in 17 matches.
Swansea won their last away game 2-1 at Stoke. Steve Cooper’s side have won five of their last six away games in all competitions.
Swansea were 2-0 winners against Blackburn in the reverse fixture at the Liberty Stadium in October 2020. Ben Cabango and Andre Ayew got their names on the scoresheet. Blackburn have failed to win any of their last six league matches against Swansea.
