Birmingham recorded their second win of the season last time out beating Preston North End 1-0, which is an impressive feat considering The Lilywhites had not lost a game or even conceded a goal up until that point. It was a much-needed result for the Blues’ though, with no win in their previous four games before last weekend.

John Eustace’s side has eight points from the same amount of games and they will know they need to improve that points-to-game ratio in order to avoid the same threat of relegation that loomed over them throughout last season. Despite the great win last time, the hosts enter this clash as second favourites, with bookies pricing the home win at odds of 15/8.

The Swans find themselves one point better off than this weekend’s opponents, but fans will be seemingly underwhelmed by their mixed start. Like the Blues, they also gained a much-needed 1-0 victory last weekend against QPR and interestingly, Russell Martin opted to line up in a 4-4-2 formation, which is something rarely seen from the South Wales club.

However, it paid dividends with his side shading the game and getting the all-important win. They also managed to add to their squad during a chaotic deadline day, with talented young Welsh full-back Finn Stevens joining on loan from Premier League Brentford. Swansea are strong favourites entering this clash, with bookmakers pricing the away win at 7/5.
