This is supposed to be the toughest group the Champions League has ever seen but Liverpool are making it look very easy just now.

On matchday two, the Reds demolished Porto 5-1 at Estádio do Dragão, meaning they’ve scored 14 goals in just three visits to that venue since 2018.

On this occasion, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino both netted braces with Sadio Mané tapping home the other.

So, Jürgen Klopp’s men are top of Group B with six points out of six, having also beaten A.C. Milan 3-2 on the opening night.

On Saturday, Liverpool demolished Watford 5-0 at Vicarage Road with Mané and Salah scoring again, the Egyptian’s a sublime solo effort.

Firmino got the other three in Hertfordshire, his first hat-trick since a 5-1 drubbing of Arsenal in December 2018.

The Reds are the only unbeaten side left in the Premier League but are second, one point behind Chelsea.

Atlético Madrid will be looking to become the first side to beat Liverpool in any competition since Real Madrid did so in Valdebebas on 6 April.

Los Colchoneros haven’t really played well in the Champions League yet but, somehow, have four points on the board.

First, Diego Simeone’s side were very lucky to hold Porto to a goalless draw at home.

Then, on matchday two, they were 1-0 down at San Siro only for A.C. Milan to be harshly reduced to ten-men on the half hour mark.

Antoine Griezmann equalised in the 85th minute before Luis Suárez converted an even more controversial 97th minute penalty.

So, the La Liga champions are in a decent position coming into this tough double-headers.

Atleti’s weekend trip to Granada was postponed, due to CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers, so haven’t played since beating Barcelona 2-0 17 days ago.

Will that extra rest help Atlético beat Liverpool at the Wanda Metropolitano, the scene of the Reds’ sixth European coronation?

101 Great Goals prediction: Atlético Madrid 1-2 Liverpool

Since winning the Champions League in Madrid in 2019, Liverpool have been knockout out of the Champions League both times by clubs from the Spanish capital.

In 2020, Atlético advanced with a famous victory at Anfield before Real Madrid ended the Reds’ run in last season’s quarter-finals.

Luis Suárez will face Liverpool for just the third time since leaving in 2014; he scored in a 3-0 Barcelona win at Camp Nou in 2019.
