Both Olympique de Marseille and Eintracht Frankfurt come into matchday two of the Champions League group stage this week on the back of opening losses at the hands of Group D adversaries Tottenham Hotspur and Sporting CP respectively.
Marseille may feel slightly more frustrated at their failure to take anything off Antonio Conte’s Spurs after the southern France outfit in the wake of Chancel Mbemba receiving his marching orders with Tottenham eventually doing what it took in north London to secure a 2-0 win.
As for Frankfurt, last season’s Europa League winners continue their hot and cold form in the Bundesliga and were soundly beaten by Sporting 3-0 last week and now face a very difficult task in trying to go to the Orange Vélodrome tomorrow without finding the back of the net in their last two fixtures across all competitions.
Marseille’s credible home record across play in Ligue 1 last season has spilled over into the current campaign and that could be enough for OM to get on track in group play as they welcome back Alexis Sánchez back into the fold after he served his match suspension.
