Liverpool vs Real Madrid: Match preview

Following back-to-back defeats against Chelsea and Fulham, Liverpool have produced three consecutive wins in the Premier League.

The Reds have seen off Wolves, Arsenal and Aston Villa to move within just three points of the top four.

Trent Alexander-Arnold netted a winner in stoppage time on the weekend to help Liverpool’s secure a crucial three points.

However, their place in this season’s Champions League looks under serious threat following last week’s defeat in Madrid.

A brace from Vinícius Júnior and a goal from Marcos Asensio means the Spanish champions have a healthy lead heading into the second-leg.

Madrid win second El Clasico of the season

Real Madrid won their second El Clasico of the season 2-1 on Saturday to close the gap on La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid.

Karim Benzema and Toni Kroos netted the goals which saw Real close the gap on Diego Simeone’s side to just one point with eight games left to play.

Los Blancos are now undefeated in their last 13 matches and winning 11 times during that period.

They now head to Anfield with a glorious opportunity of reaching the Champions League semi-finals given their 3-1 lead.

The winner of Wednesday’s tie will face Chelsea in the last four after the Blues eliminated FC Porto.
