Chelsea vs Krasnodar: Recommended bets
Olivier Giroud to score. Giroud has made an incredible start to the month, scoring five goals in two appearances. Although Lampard is set to rotate his side heavily, it would be harsh to drop Giroud from the starting eleven.
Over 2.5 goals. Each of Chelsea’s last four Champions League matches have produced at least 3 goals.
Chelsea to keep a clean sheet. Chelsea have kept five clean sheets in their last eight matches at Stamford Bridge.
LONDON, ENGLAND – DECEMBER 05: Hakim Ziyech of Chelsea leaves the pitch following an injury during the Premier League match between Chelsea and Leeds United at Stamford Bridge on December 05, 2020 in London, England. A limited number of fans are welcomed back to stadiums to watch elite football across England. This was following easing of restrictions on spectators in tiers one and two areas only. Chelsea vs Krasnodar: Champions League match preview
Chelsea confirmed top spot in Group E last week with a 4-0 thrashing of Sevilla in Spain.
Although Sevilla can still mathematically finish level on 13 points with Chelsea, the Blues’ superior head-to-head record means that they can’t be leapfrogged regardless of Tuesday night’s result.
Olivier Giroud – who has been a bit-part player for much of the campaign – grabbed his opportunity last week by scoring all 4 of Chelsea’s goals.
The Frenchman was rewarded with another start at the weekend and scored Chelsea’s first goal in their 3-1 win at home to Leeds. Chelsea trailed early on after conceding a goal from one of their former players Patrick Bamford. Giroud levelled things up before second-half goals from Kurt Zouma and Christian Pulisic sealed the win.
The Blues end the weekend 3rd in the Premier League, two points off of leaders Spurs.
Marcus Berg scored the only goal of the game in Krasnodar’s crucial win over Rennes last week. The result assures the Russian side of a third-place finish, meaning their European campaign will continue in the Europa League.
Krasnodar are 8th in the Russian Premier League following their 5-0 home win over 10-man Rotor Volgograd on Saturday.
Callum Hudson-Odoi, Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, and Christian Pulisic were all on target in Chelsea’s 4-0 win over Krasnodar in the reverse fixture in October.
Chelsea team news vs Krasnodar
Frank Lampard is likely to implement some heavy rotation, now that his side have sealed top spot in Group E.
Kepa Arrizabalaga could replace Edouard Mendy in goal, while fringe players Marcos Alonso, Fikayo Tomori, and Andreas Christensen could start in defence.
Billy Gilmour has made a few cameo appearances since returning from a lengthy injury and could start this one.
Olivier Giroud is seemingly in undroppable form and should lead the attack, although Tammy Abraham is another option up front.
Hakim Ziyech hamstring injury against Leeds. The severity of the injury is not yet known but the Moroccan will definitely miss Tuesday’s game.
Krasnodar team news vs Chelsea
Manager Murad Musayev could field a similar side to the one which beat Rennes last week.
Former Arsenal youth player Kristoffer Olsson started in the reverse fixture but was not involved last week. Former Newcastle midfielder Remy Cabella should start in midfield.
Right-back Sergey Petrov will miss the remainder of the calendar year with a hamstring injury. Fellow right-back Dmitri Stotskiy is sidelined with a long-term injury.
Aleksey Ionov was signed after UEFA’s registration deadline and is therefore not in Krasnodar’s Champions League squad.
