It’s arguably the biggest game of the season for both Union Berlin and RB Leipzig here at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig with the two clubs barely separated in the Bundesliga table with both having eyes on Bayern Munich at the top.

Just prior to the World Cup break, it did look as if both sides were set to take on Bayern if the league leaders failed to continue with their winning form. The champions have since gone on to drop a bunch of points, and it leaves these two well within the title race.

Ahead of the battle, Union are behind Bayern by just two points and a win here and a loss for the league leaders could put the former 2. Bundesliga side at the summit of German football from out of nowhere.

Union also sit ahead of Leipzig by three goals, but as Urs Fischer’s side have an inferior goals difference, they cannot afford to lose here as it would mean a drop into third and potentially lower.

Fischer’s side have won all their games since action resumed in Germany, scoring 11 goals and letting in four. Leipzig drew with Koln last time out, however, which has created this three-point gap in the top four.
