Bayern Munich are looking to avoid double déjà vu in this cup tie.
First, the Bavarians have crashed out of the DFB-Pokal in the second round in each of the last two seasons, beaten by Holstein Kiel and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Also, their sole defeat of the season, coming just 32 days ago, came at the hands of Augsburg at this very venue, a 1-0 reverse.
Since then, Julian Nagelsmann’s side have all but wrapped up top spot in their Champions League group, sat on maximum points.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, Bayern hammered Freiburg 5-0, thereby moving back up to second in the Bundesliga.
Every season in the Pokal since 2008/09, Bayern have at least reached the semi-finals, or fallen at this stage.
So, will the record 20-times winners of this trophy march on?
Augsburg, of course, will be full of belief, having won this fixture just four and a half weeks ago.
Enrico Maaßen’s side are down in 12th in the Bundesliga, having lost 3-2 to Köln at the weekend.
