Inter, who fell behind to an early Pedro goal at the San Siro, roared back into life to secure a wonderful 3-1 victory over Barcelona on Tuesday night in the Champions League, but an evening of celebration was soured by yet another strop from teenage forward Mario Balotelli.
As soon as the full time whistle blew Balotelli, who threw his Inter shirt to the ground, stormed off the pitch and down the tunnel (watch here). And as his trundled off the pitch Balotelli was seen arm-waving and with a snarl across his face – clearly letting his anger be known to the heckling Inter crowd.
According to reports, Balotelli, who has only recently come back into the Inter fold after a series of fall-outs with management at the club, was frustrated about the jeering he received when he missed an opportunity after coming on as a second half sub.
Spiking the situation further was a public rebuke of Balotelli by legendary captain Javier Zanetti after the match. In his post match interview the Argentine responded to the 19-year-old’s behaviour, saying that he had “ruined” the celebrations by his actions.
Rumours then flowed that Balotelli got involved in a heated argument with defender Marco Materazzi, and once the exchange of words ended, the starlet left the stadium immediately. But as he approached his car to leave the ground, a group of angry supporters tried to impede his path getting out of the stadium by blocking his exit. Security, as well as Nerazzurri president Massimo Moratti were called upon to disperse the crowds and allow the forward to leave the premises.
