Worst debut ever? Jose Sand sees two penalties saved by Guillermo Sara (Racing Club 1 – Atletico Rafaela 1)

Argentina’s Torneo Inicial kicked off this weekend and predictably served up some crazy football.

Racing’s 1-1 draw with Atletico Rafaela was the pick of the matches played so far in terms of drama with Jose Sand experiencing an afternoon to forget on debut.

The 32-year-old striker who joined Racing from Tijuana after scoring 12 goals last season in Mexico was presented with two penalties to win the match.

But, standing in the way of Sand was Guillermo Sara, a keeper who has spent his whole career at Atletico Rafaela and who managed to save both spot kicks.

The first saw Sara dive to his right with a fine save in first half injury time. And the second was another great stop, albeit not quite as far in the corner. Footage of both penalty misses below.

Another “highlight” from Argentina on Saturday was a terrible challenge that saw Santiago Silva sent off in Boca Juniors’ 3-0 defeat to Quilmes.
