Roberto Soldado is a goal scorer. The Valencia striker has hit double figures in the last three seasons and in 2011/2012 has already claimed five goals in four games.
Against Barcelona though, Soldado produced one of the misses of the season so far and the comparisons with Fernando Torres are not flattering for the Los Che striker.
To recap, just before the break, with Valencia 2-1 up, the home side broke down the left and with the cross having beaten Victor Valdes, Soldado was all on his own, albeit sliding in to a quick ball across goal.
Somehow the former Getafe striker diverted the ball wide rather than into an empty net from about two yards.
Calling it worse than El Nino’s effort at Old Trafford is a bold claim. But, first off, it was an easier chance and secondly it would have put Valencia 3-1 up in a game they drew 2-2.
