When mascots attack: The throw-down and the the broken corner flag

Two funny videos giving a insight into the world of a mascot in South America.

First up, a video taken from Thursday night’s Paulista Championship meeting between Paulista and Corinthians. With both club mascots vying for attention from the crowd, the frisky Paulista mascot made a seemingly inappropriate move by placing his paws around the waist of his opposing furry friend. Unhappy with his personal space being invaded, the Corinthians mascot turned on his opposite number and dished out retribution, much to the enjoyment of the crowd.

A second mascot related video comes from a match held several weeks back between Sao Paulo and Corinthians.

During the halftime show the mascots of the clubs took part in a penalty shootout competition. At some point during the contest, the Corinthians’ mascot managed to save the Sao Paulo mascot’s penalty with a fine diving save to the keeper’s right.

And the Corinthians’ mascot didn’t hold back his emotions. Wildly, he ran over the corner flag, kicked it and broke it in half. Much to the crowd’s delight.
